***Dave East Official Thread: "Karma 3 Out Now I Guess***

The label going through a transitional period at the top actually works in his favor. Drop the "EP", catch the response, when there's finally some stability over at Def Jam in regards to marketing, etc...you give him a better push.

How could Def Jam put this out without a proper push. There isn't even a video for his first single?

I don't think they ever put enough effort into marketing him. Seems like they're just relying on his female fanbase to cop based off shirtless pics.

EDIT: Rosenberg is taking over, right? Yeah it's almost a built in excuse, but at the very least you wait for some stability before you put out an artist like East. He's got a much more timeless and widely accepted style than most of what drops these days.

This is where it gets tricky because Dave is hitting people with music pretty consistently. So not sure waiting is the answer either.

Maybe you serve them now, read the room, then figure out what the next move is based on that, as someone mentioned.

The weird thing with Dave is....the music has not been female friendly for the most part. But chicks started ******* with the kid heavy.

So now you're in a position where you need to start gradually shifting the music in a direction that they **** with that too. And you can't do that too fast and abandon his core.

So you start doing that in baby steps now with the CB track etc.

He's in an interesting position as an artist and with his label situation. So this may be part of the transition period.

Or Def Jam could just be ******* this up.

Just trying to look at it from a few different sides.

So Wiz was trash when Kush and OJ came out? Nearly a decade is a reach. He been trash for like 3 or 4 years.

This. Khalifa, Cabin Fever 3, and Blacc Hollywood were all buns, but T.God Mafia and T.God Vol 1 were dope, and that's the most recent stuff he's done

For all of this talk about a "flop".....what exactly is a flop for a dude with no real sales history?

This is a great point. Clearly they're not spending a lot on it so it won't be a flop in that sense. I don't see this album selling more than 20 but we'll see. I wanted to see more for this album but as long as its fire, I won't care

That Chris Brown record ain't it. **** sounds forced and they don't mix. He already got the females by not even making a chick record, he don't need to switch it up. Don't wanna hear dude on some LL talkin bout "paradice is very niiiiiice". Maybe like a DMX How It's Going Down type of record, a LOX Ride Or Die Chick.

G Unit made some great "thug love" records that didn't really fit them.
