i thought that was zod's ship since it landed/crashed in the middle of the city
im 90% sure superman left his ship in the arctic, he talked to his dad a bit, then he got his suit then he learned to fly. I dont recall them ever going back to that ship.
to destroy the world engine they crashed superman's baby escape pod into it
