Viola Davis wanted to pepper spray 'Suicide Squad' co-star, Jared Leto
Actress Viola Davis revealed she was pushed to wanting to pepper spray her 'Suicide Squad' co-star, Jared Leto.
Jared Leto's "wacky" hijinks on the set of 'Suicide Squad' have become infamous. Adopting his own brand of method acting and truly indulging in the persona of the Joker, Leto decided to engage his co-stars via a series of gifts that truly embodied the spirit of the character and his complete disregard for the status quo. He sent everything form pornography to dead animals, even a live rat to Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), which she's proud to say she kept as a pet. For a while, Viola Davis, who plays A.R.G.U.S. director and founder of Task Force X, Amanda Waller, didn't receive any innappropriate gags. Eventually, Leto got to the rest of his gift list and apparently sent her a box of bullets.
The prank, however, did not sit well with the 'How to Get Away with Murder' star. In regards to finally meeting Jared Leto out of character at the wrap party, she had this to say:
"Before that I was only introduced to The Joker...and I almost had my pepper spray out. You know, 'You remember that bullet you sent me?'"
When asked about his acting method for tackling the iconic role of the Joker, Leto explained himself by saying:
"I did a lot of things to create a dynamic, to create an element of surprise, a spontaneity, and to really break down any kind of walls that may be there. The Joker is somebody who doesn't really respect things like personal space or boundaries."
Now that production has ended and the movie is slated for release, everyone seems to have put all the unpleasantness behind them...at least until the sequel.
