Denver Nuggets (10-4) 2023-24 Season Thread: 11/22 @ Magic

Nah he deserved that he didn't even try to be sneaky about throwing the elbow.
Al guarding Love that should end well.

GK needs to get fired. All this talent and the team continues to play like this. Just pathetic.

Much needed win. Hopefully momentum can be built off of the performance.

Agreed.

These guys looked way better on defense then they had lately. Glad McGee was inserted into the starting line-up, Mozgov has been playing like buns for over a month now. I'd rather have a McGee/Koufos/Andersen rotation with Mozgov racking up some DNPs, rather than him getting consistent minutes.

Lawson needs to play like he did tonight, every night. This team would be so much better if he did.

'Dre & Al looked pretty good tonight, which was weird to see.

Really big game tonight against PHX. If the Nuggets lose, and the Rockets lose, there'll be a 3-way tie for 7th with Houston, Denver & Phoenix. If the Nuggets win and Houston loses, the Nuggets will move up to 7th by themselves.

Gallo aiming for a Monday return against GSW. Looks like Chandler may be out for quite awhile; hopefully nothing too serious is found today...

Chris Dempsey @dempseypost
#Nuggets F Wilson Chandler (groin) has not healed w/ rest & will have an MRI today to find out more about it

Wilson is done for the season but really liking the effort tonight. I would rather play the Spurs in round 1 than OKC or LA though.

Not surprised about Wilson after how he looked on Sunday. On Monday, one of the Rockets' commentators said he'd be out for the season and need surgery, but I figured he was misinformed. I hope he's healthy in time for next season.

Same here on the Spurs, but I still don't feel confident in this squad being able to get out of the 1st round.

With no Artest Gallo has to step up in a big way.

The Nuggets need to continue to do the things they did to finish off the season if they hope to take this series against the Lakers. Really looking forward to Game 1 tomorrow.
Faried Named Western Conference Rookie of the Month
DENVER, April 27, 2012 – Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for April after helping Denver to a 10-4 record that clinched the team’s ninth consecutive playoff berth.
Faried, selected by the Nuggets 22nd overall in the 2011 NBA Draft, averaged 11.6 points and 9.1 rebounds in April and recorded six double-doubles.

On April 9 against Golden State, he posted career highs of 27 points and 17 rebounds, becoming the first player in the shot-clock era to have at least 27 points and 17 rebounds while playing less than 25 minutes.

The Nuggets, who clinched the No. 6 seed in the West, were 6-0 in April when Faried registered a double-double and 11-1 on the season.

Faried tied Ricky Rubio for the rookie lead in double-doubles in 2011-12 and he also led all NBA rookies in rebound average (7.7), field-goal percentage (.586) and PER (21.94).

Faried is the third player in Nuggets history to be named rookie of the month and the first since Carmelo Anthony in April 2004. Anthony won the award six times, while Dikembe Mutombo received the honor twice during the 1991-92 season.

Nuggets' Kenneth Faried third in NBA rookie voting; Irving tops

The 22nd pick in the NBA draft finished third in the voting for rookie of the year. Not a bad accomplishment for Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried, who began the season on the end of the bench and finished the season averaging a double-double in the playoffs.

The Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving, who hit a game-winning shot against Denver this season, won the NBA's top rookie award today. The point guard was the top pick in last summer's draft. Another point guard, Minnesota's Ricky Rubio, finished second in the voting.

Denver's Faried didn't play for the first third of the season, but he made a huge splash once he saw the floor, energizing teammates and fans alike with his emphatic dunks and voracious rebounding.

For the season, the 6-foot-8 Faried averaged 10.2 points and 7.7 rebounds — and in the postseason against the Lakers, he averaged 10.4 points and 10.0 rebounds.

Faried had two games that will stand out for years. Against the Celtics on St. Patricks' Day, he had 18 points and 16 rebounds in the Nuggets victory, and made all five field-goals attempts and all eight free-throw attempts. The game was played at Pepsi Center, where on March 17 the previous year, he blocked a potential game-winning shot for Morehead State, which shocked Louisville in the NCAA Tournament.

And Faried's best game of his rookie season happened April 9, when he had 27 points and 17 rebounds in only 24 minutes against Golden State.

Irving finished with 592 total voting points, while Rubio had 170 and Faried had 129.

Among rookies, Irving ranked first in scoring (18.5 ppg), field-goal percentage (.469) and free-throw percentage (.872), while placing second in assists (5.4 apg) and three-point field goal percentage (.399).

Pretty much where I thought he'd fall in the voting. Great year for the Manimal.
Exec & aepps... any interest in an off-season thread?

Just change the title of this one and update the first page.

Miller/Rudy out.
Pay Lawson/McGee? It's gonna be interesting to see if the FO matches a big number given the buyers remorse with Nene or if anyone even offers.
Find back up PG/Shooter

I hope Rudy isn't brought back. I can't stand dude.
Extend Lawson, for sure. I think his value is only going to rise. McGee, I have a feeling he's going to get a ridiculous offer from somebody--will be interesting to see what Ujiri does in this situation.

Think we can find an NBA ready PG in the Draft? I hope J-Ham gets more minutes this upcoming season, he has the capability to provide a nice scoring punch off the bench and has deep range.

Bird--amnesty? He's obviously not going to get any PT with Koufos/McGee/Mozgov on board. I doubt the Nuggets would be able to find any takers for his remaining 2-years/$9 mil, so you may as well take the hit and pay him the rest of his dough for extra cap space.

I wouldn't mind trading up to get Kendall Marshall no way he drops to 20 but other than that I don't see anyone.
I think veteran is needed in the back court right now though. Someone to teach the bigs will help a lot too. I'm sure Stone/Hamilton will contribute more with a full camp/summer league under their belt.

Delonte West could be picked up for cheap and I'd like Jamal Crawford for the right price.

It might be cheaper to buy Bird out if possible but whatever opens up that roster spot is fine with me.
