Quincy Miller's agent: Nuggets have tendered offer
by Nate Timmons on Sep 5, 2012 6:20 PM MDT in Denver Nuggets: News and Opinion
The Denver Nuggets will retain Quincy Miller's draft rights. "They (Denver Nuggets) made the required tender to Quincy (Miller)." said Miller's agent Dwon Clifton of Envision Sports Agency in a phone interview with me late this afternoon. According to Clifton, the Nuggets have offered Miller a non-guaranteed deal.
The ball is now in Miller's court (Miller and his camp) to either accept the deal offered by the Nuggets or to head back to the negotiating table. Clifton believes the Nuggets have plans for the talented rookie out of Baylor and expects to get a deal done in the coming days.
By tendering the contract to Miller, the Nuggets will keep his draft rights (for a year) if the two sides are unable to reach an agreement on a contract. On September 6th (tomorrow), second-round draft picks not tendered contracts by the teams that drafted them are set to become free agents. This won't be the case for the former Baylor star who averaged 10.6 points and 4.9 rebounds for the Bears last season. Miller's draft rights will be retained by the Nuggets, we'll find out soon if he'll fill the last available roster spot for Denver.
Nuggets sign second-round draft pick Quincy Miller
Forward out of Baylor was 38th overall pick of 2012 NBA Draft
DENVER, Sept. 6, 2012 – The Denver Nuggets have signed second-round draft pick Quincy Miller to a multiyear contract, executive vice president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri announced today.
Miller, 6-9, 210, was the 38th overall selection in the 2012 NBA Draft after being named the 2011-12 Big 12 Co-Freshman of the Year at Baylor University. He averaged 10.6 points and 4.9 rebounds in 37 games while helping the Bears reach the Elite Eight at the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
Miller, 19, played for Denver at the 2012 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, averaging 6.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in five games.
With Miller’s addition, the Nuggets now have 15 players on their roster.
I'd think Stone is good. Rotation looks pretty much set, and there's no point in trying to find an upgrade at 13th/14th man spot.So Stone is good right?
Quincy's deal is 3 years 2.2 million.
76ers tried to hire Nuggets' Masai Ujiri as GM

Before widening their search for a general manager this summer, the Philadelphia 76ers aggressively pursued Denver Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The 76ers were granted permission to talk to Ujiri earlier in the summer, but he ultimately resisted what would've been a lucrative package to replace Sixers president and GM Rod Thorn, sources said.
Ujiri has emerged as a rising star among league front-office executives and had been the 76ers' primary target along with new Atlanta Hawks GM Danny Ferry, sources said.
The 76ers have narrowed the search and appear to be leaning toward promoting assistant GM Tony DiLeo to the GM job, league sources said. The 76ers had considered former New Orleans Hornets GM Jeff Bower, but as the Philadelphia Inquirer recently reported, DiLeo has emerged as the favorite to take over for Thorn.
The Sixers' ownership group had believed it could lure Ujiri, one of the lowest-paid GMs in the league, with a $2 million-plus annual package, sources said. Nevertheless, Ujiri's strong relationship and trust in Denver president Josh Kroenke and owner Stan Kroenke, as well as his investment in a promising roster, led him to stay the course in Denver.
Ujiri has a year left on his original three-year deal, and Denver will likely need to secure him with a long-term commitment to stave off future suitors.
Ujiri has played an immense role in stabilizing Denver's front office and reshaping the Nuggets' roster in the wake of the Carmelo Anthony trade. Philadelphia recruited Ujiri and the Nuggets to facilitate the four-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers and Orlando Magic that brought the Nuggets All-Star forward Andre Iguodala as part of the Dwight Howard-Andrew Bynum blockbuster trade.
Lab done analyzing electronic devices seized from Chris 'Birdman' Andersen's house

CASTLE ROCK - Douglas County Sheriff's investigators have received all of the information back from the forensic computer lab analyzing electronic devices seized from former Denver Nuggets basketball player Chris "Birdman" Andersen's home, 9Wants to Know has confirmed.
Results from the forensic exam have not been made public.
The information was returned to investigators the first week of September, Sgt. Ron Hanavan, Douglas County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer, said.
Hanavan says detectives will now start the process of investigating and reviewing those results. Hanavan called the process very lengthy and time intensive.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit served a search warrant in May at Andersen's home in Larkspur. At the time, 9NEWS reported that a sheriff's office spokesperson said the investigation could take weeks.
Andersen was cut from the Nuggets roster in July.
Investigators say they searched Andersen's home in connection with a tip they got from California in February.
Andersen's attorney, Colin Bresee, released a statement to 9NEWS after the search warrant was served:
"A female fan in 2010 mailed Mr. Andersen multiple letters and included several photos in which she was scantily clad. Chris and this woman communicated with each other and in 2011, this woman, who represented herself as 21 years of age, flew to Colorado, showing her required identification. After leaving Colorado, she became upset at his lack of interest. In 2012, she threatened to retaliate if he did not provide financial remuneration."
According to the statement, someone purporting to be the woman's mother wrote in an email that "'i (sic) want him to pay for everything on her Amazon wish list, 5K for her bedding stuff and her Victoria Secret wish list."
"Professional athletes are routinely targeted by these types of individuals," the statement said. "The media has been speculating that he's a suspect and not a victim in a criminal investigation. Mr. Andersen has been fully cooperative with the authorities. The investigation is expected to take three weeks. We're confident it will show that Chris did not engage in any criminal conduct."
The electronic devices taken from Andersen's home were evaluated at the Rocky Mountain Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory in Centennial.
