Did Eminem really use punch lines like that before Recovery?

I feel like he has an insane number of punchlines on this album and on the Despicable freestyle. Either they used to go over my head or he really upped his usage as of lately. I never really noticed him to be a punchline rapper but it's like every song he has a few. Maybe I'm noticing it more since it's a lot more common now. Anyone else notice this?

this has been discussed on here several times...

he def uses more punchlines now and theyre usually corny... like that bi polar line

every rapper has increased the amount of punchlines they use to fit in with the times.

It's funny though.

Wayne evolved into a punchline rapper because of drugs, and Eminem adopted the style because of abstinence.

false. Eminem came up as a battle rapper. His first album Infinite was chalk full of great punch lines. 
Also if you check out his post Slim Shady LP pre Marshall Mathers LP tracks he's got some gems:
