[Discussion] Downsizing/Minimizing Sneaker Collection or Quitting Collecting (WITH TIPS/RESOURCES)

Just thinking out loud and maybe it won’t work but there’s a couple size 13ers posting here wanting to downsize… we could send each other what we want to get rid of and whatever respective ebay market value is, chop off like 25% (give or take?). They’d prob sit for months even at “market value” on eBay anyway. Kinda doesn’t make sense since we’re each wanting to downsize, not buy 🤣 but hey if it’s a good deal 🤷‍♂️

The bigger test for me will be the Columbia XI. I still have my 2018 BC3 so that drop did not phase me.

But these XIs.. I had the 2001 pair waaaay back in the day. They were one of my least worn pairs because they just looked so clean that I never wanted to mess them up. I ended up selling them nearly deadstock.

I have the 2019 Playoff XI (had the 2001 release). I copped the Concords last year (had the 2000 release). Now here are the Columbias staring at me. I've been wearing the Playoffs and Concords to the gym trying to put some miles on them. We'll see how the next 2 weeks unfolds.

Honestly, if I’m selling to someone I know (or e-know), I don’t necessarily need market price. Something fair for both parties. Problem is, figuring out what I want to get rid of, that I won’t regret letting go of.

I agree , moving unneeded shoes and getting the weight off my shoulders/mind is a win.

Had to get rid of my 11s outside of concords.

Love the shoe design but they are the most uncomfortable shoes I have.

Yea very uncomfortable and they don't age well. The patent leather stretches and the yellowing on the clear soles. They only look good when they are new.

random question but has anyone here ever rented a storage unit before?
if so, how long did you have it for, and did the place ever try to contact you saying they are going to raise prices on you after a few months of renting it?

I appreciate the reply.
I think this place I'm renting from is trying to do me dirty.
I recently moved into my lady's place late September, and had to rent one.
They sent us an email last week saying "in 2025, we are raising the unit price", which is going to be an extra hundred a month.
Mind you, I've only had the spot for less than 3 months..

I guess I'll be researching for another place, and moving my stuff out during Christmas week.

You can usually lock in for a year, (esp if you prepay) but they have the right to increase it thereafter to the market rate, which can be a few bucks or well over $100. That whole industry is freak'n annoying.

Anybody know when Stockx is likely to have the next day or two with no fees for selling? I think I'm going to try to move a good 5 or 6 pairs.

It was yesterday and I didn't see that til an hour ago.
I'd been checking every day but yesterday got busy and plus I ball.
I had searches set up and everything.

I'm SICK

I sold most of my shoes back in 2009 out of pure luck when I met a guy who wanted to buy my whole collection (20-30 pairs)

Now I buy shoes that are comfortable, idc how they look or how rare, if it doesn't feel comfy I'm not wearing them or buying.

I browse the threads to see what retros come out, when I saw the FP 1's were coming out I was genuinely hyped, a top 5 for me and I sold mine a while ago. Then I realized I'm not wearing that CW at the age of 35.

I'm down to 10 pairs of sneakers which I wear all of them on rotation, not giving a damn if they get stepped on or dirty.

For me I realized as I gold older, the shoes don't last long so wear them, they will most likely come back out in a few years, and lastly you can't take them with you when you're gone.

Goals 😂

Y’all know stash af1s and am95s are just sitting on the site in full size runs.

Stay skrong, brothers.

I did a major purge around 2014 and unloaded 90-100 pairs of jordans (retroes from ‘99-2013). Only for the yeezy, UB, and Roshe hupe to come right after that and i hoarded pairs once again 🤦🏽‍♂️

Looking back on this past year and I’ve gotten away from shoes. Part of that reason is budget but also just not interested in the chase.

That said a couple caught my eye. This year I got the original colorways of the 180. Struck out on the Air Tech Challenge 2 lava, and of course want the Columbia 11s. I do love 5s however so this weekend saw me pick up the reverse metallic. I also like the volt air max 2013 but held steady and saw sales come and go on the Nike app. My size sold out now.

Caved and bought those Christmas SBs lol. Honestly thought they were going to sell out and when I saw them sitting there I just got them. I'm weak.

However in my defense I have been wanting a pair of SBs for a loooooong time. Last good pair I had I sold off in 2011. Still have a pair of Broncos from 2003 that are completely smooth on the bottom and unwearable. These new ones will get some good wear. No more shoes sitting in the closet for me.

I have no zeal to get the All-Star XIs this weekend. If you need some motivation to NOT get them, go look at pics of old pairs. They age terribly. Not only does the sole yellow but so does the white patent leather. That's one shoe that only looks good in the box.

Used my returned funds from the black cement 3s for the NB ALD 997 mismatch. The Stash AF1 were going to be my last purchase until those NB popped outta no where. Always wanted them since 2019 and resale is outrageous.

Once I get those Stash’s, imma fall back for a while.

My main focus for 2025 is paying off my car loan. Hopefully around this time next year I’ll be debt free.

Once you get to the other side where you don't have a monthly car note anymore, it's freaking liberating. Whatever that amount is that would once be tied up to the car becomes an amount for anything you'd like it to be.
