I'm not denying that other regions have great artists. They obviously do. But what I'm saying is that if I were getting shipped to an island for the rest of my life, and I could only bring 300 songs with me, and I had to choose between A) 300 songs all from NY artists or B) 300 songs from anyone but NY artists, I would go with A without even thinking about thinking twice.
And that's what makes people different.
I need at least 200 songs between tupac, snoop, dre, cube, nwa, quik, short, 40 water.. and the list goes on.
You can't attack people on how they view music. Calling bay area heads stupid for claiming their music to be the best is wrong. Even if it is true theyhave the right to think that way. You like NY music and you call it the best. Nothing wrong with that at all. But throwing other regional fans under the bus iswrong.
I'm not trying to equate album sales to skills necessarily; what I am saying is that NY dudes gas up everyone. EVERYONE. You put a punchlineon a mixtape, and man you all of the sudden top-10. Sure, it's clearly opinion and we can back and forth on that, but if dudes were as good as yall makethem out to be, I have a feeling we would hear more about them. But we don't.Originally Posted by iLLoQuent aka DSK
You're proving my point.
All you're talking about is mainstream hits and +*++...so Budden is garbage because he hasn't come out with a hit since Pump It Up?Cassidy ain't even FROM NY so that's another one there...I don't understand why +$!!%# got this knack of certifying that rap +$!!%# are GARBAGE and TRASH just because they're not relevant in the mainstreams' eyes...the !!@* does that have to do with how they rap? Sure, they ain't getting connected on that main event scene like all these other rappers but that says nothing about their rapping ability...I think people say this to comfort themselves or they give themselves a reason not to listen to it..."oh well, he hasn't had a hit since '03 so he MUST be garbage" "well Jada hasn't had an album that went plat yet so he MUST be garbage".....Dudes are misinformed...

Honestly, I think your on that "trying to be different" thang since you from the bay. You must be a square or something if you didnt go hella dumb when you heard some *%%! slappin in the club or at a party. Maybe its just me tho.
I mean I mess with NY rappers. Some of my Fav rappers are from NY. Hell, every part of this country. But dawg, you didnt listen to that old school mob music the bay had/has? *%%! was raw. You gonna tell me dudes like Clyde Carson, Yukmouth, Ya Boy etc. aint hot? or never were?
Or do you base your opinions off of the bay dudes that you hear on the radio? Cus its not that many.
Ok, well forget about the part you highlighted. Im just trying to get what your saying. To me, you just seem so anti bay/music yet beingfrom the bay yourself.Originally Posted by 22 Deuces 22

Yeah, I'm a square because I act like a civilized human being.
Trust me, i'll be found dead before I ever get caught "going hella dumb at a party listening to a bay area hyphy song."
And I'm on that "trying to be different" tip?Naw. If anything, all you Bay Cats are on the "trying to fit in" tip, because that's my only theory as to how people can stand Bay music. A few people thought it was cool, and then the squares who can't form their own personalities followed suit in order to be more accepted. That's honestly my opinion.
And do I base my opinions from what I hear on the radio? I haven't listened to the radio for over 2 minutes since 2002, unless it was a sports game.

See, you sound just like the folks I know. What does me being from the Bay have anything to do with the sound of the music? Is it supposed tosound good because the artist who recorded it within 30 minutes from me? Is that supposed to make the lyrics sound more raw? Is it supposed to make thepunchlines punch harder?
