We always had money, the owner never wanted to spend. Now that there is a new stadium opening up, he's forced to spend them money.
also the lease that were paying was crazy high, wont have to pay that now. in 1997 they won the World Series, the team only made 2-3 million of profit.

If it's true...oh well. we're in a horrible financial situation. but out with the old, in with the new. we'll lose one star player and in turn be able to keep 4 good above-average players and fix our pitching woes. *shrugs* wish him the best...out of the division. lol.

Yeah he may be injury prone, but if he can give us 140 games with the line up we have. We're in the playoffs.

When has Jose played 140 games though? He always goes down with an injury for a decent amount of time.

2005- 161 games playd
2006- 153 games played
2007- 160 games played
2008- 159 games played
2009- 36 games played
2010- 133 games played
2011- 126 games played

The additional time he missed in 09 and last year was also because of him coming back from the dl too quickly thanks to the Mets incompetent medical staff and if it wasn't for his thyroid issue in 10, he would've played 140+ games. This injury prone argument is nonsense.

they should of traded him this past year... instead another mistake by the mets organization, now they gotta deal with him in the division... lol

At least things are not finalized, but getting picks back if he walks is not the worst thing in the world.

but of course the Marlins first rd pick is protected. if he doesn't resign here, go to the Tigers.

. We'd get a lousy 2nd round pick if he signs with the Marlins. And then who knows how long it'd take for that kid to be major league ready.
NYM fans deserve better than what we've experienced over the last half decade. Especially in a town like this where other teams experience great amounts of success yearly. Any team that ever wins anything in any sport always builds the same way. Establish a core group of players, then sprinkle in the right free agents as is necessary. The Mets managed to screw this up royally and are ultimately relying on Sandy Alderson to rebuild this franchise and bring us back to respectability. He's done a lot of great things so far to reverse the trends here but I think he screwed this move up and I'm positive the Wilpons had a lot to do with it. They should've traded Reyes for whatever major league ready prospects that they could've gotten last year. I would have been happy receiving at least one great prospect. Now we have to watch him walk into some other great city and eventually clown us when he comes back to play vs us.
