DONE DEAL: Shaq to Cleveland for Sasha Pavlovic and Ben Wallace/ EDIT: Villanueva next???

Ilyasova stands to make considerably more money if he stays in Europe, but the Bucks are hopingIlyasova would find the potential for considerable playing time appealing enough to return."

The trade of Shaquille O'Neal to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday was more than just a contract dump for the Phoenix Suns.

It also was done to satisfy point guard Steve Nash.

According to an NBA source, Nash expressed his displeasure with O'Neal during a meeting last week in New York with general manager Steve Kerr.

Nash, still one of the best point guards in the NBA, will become a free agent after this season if the Suns can't sign him this summer to a contract extension.

"I think he told him [Kerr] that if O'Neal was there, he wouldn't be around much longer,'' said the NBA source who requested his name not be used. "That pretty much sealed it.''

Nash had grown weary of O'Neal's inability to keep up with the fast-paced play that the Suns had been so successful with in the past and with O'Neal's demand to be a bigger part of the offense.

The Suns shocked many around the NBA when they acquired O'Neal midway in the 2007-08 season, giving them a low-post presence that was contrary to the way they had been playing. They still won 55 games after he was acquired but lost in the first round of the playoffs. This season with O'Neal, they failed to reach the playoffs.

O'Neal was in the final year of his contract that will pay him $20 million. Nash will be making $13 million this season.

I'm guessing the awards they garnered doesn't = success?

Or maybe you're still on that championship high.

And stop Dwight? he plays the best 1 on 1 defense on himself that I've seen in a long time.

Why is everyone suddenly forgetting Amare's injury? The Suns were also still in the playoff race 70 games into the season and Shaq was playing pretty damngood. They act like it's the Big Cactus' fault all of a sudden.

Oh well, anything to cause drama around this trade. The media sucks %@+.

Clearly, you need help here. Mr Nash who is by far THEE most overrated player in history, and has never even been to a finals unless David Letterman sendshim, is upset with a man who has 4 titles, and SIX trips to the finals in his career. And why? Because Mr Nash enjoyed the Suns SUCCESS of never winning inthe playoffs or even making the finals. Terrific. The Suns are a much better team now, great job Steve.
Oh and all of this is the Suns bending over for a 35 year old washed up has been. Even greater. The Suns franchise has now just assured themselves of neverwinning for another 6-7 solid years, all because of one worthless player. ZO should be so proud right now knowing his hero will never do anything andcompletely ruined his franchise.

He wore No. 32 for the Magic, Lakers, Heat and Suns.
