Throw them in the shoe bags and put that into your luggage or traveling bag so nothing scratches your shoes and your shoes don't dirty anything it touches while in transportation.

Regarding fit of Daltons, I bought mine a half size up from my normal AE size to account for thicker socks. I still wear thin socks with them though and they fit just fine.
