ELECTION DAY 2008:........... Barack Obama, the next President of the United States of America

2A. First of all... Obama isn't "changing" anything, that's pure non-sense. His values are not "different" or"change".... he's no different then any other liberal Democrat, except for the fact he's more liberal then the average Democrat in America. The only thing that is "change" is "change" from conservative/Republican ideology that Bush has had in office the past 8 years... so peopleare hopping on the idea of wanting something different... which I explained on page 71 is one of the reasons that makes it very likely that Obama WILL win.

Yeah cause you can tell the future and all. Funny that his message worked so well McCain tried to swagger jack it. I don't understand how you feelcomfortable with a man like mccain who is has a bonified anger problem and is starting to lose it plus having palin on the ticket. His campaign has beennothing but low ball attacks and ducktales and it is catching up to him. It is time we have a president that represents the people and is from the bottum up,not some spoiled army brat that have had things handed to him all his life.

Question for the conservative/s.. If Obama wins and does well and strenghtens the American economy, strengthens our standing among other countries, strengthensour National Security and gives universal health care would you vote for him in 4 years if he accomplished all of that.

Hummm... I suppose this is a free market system.

Hey what about Henry Paulson proposing today a plan to take government stakes in American Banks, thats following the conservative principles of less government .. The Gipper is somewhere gagging ehhh

If you're saying the free market system is what got us into the current problem right now, that'd be false.
I don't really know that much about McCain's plan but I do know that $300 billion figure scares me. Like I said in a response to someone else, we needto stop spending so much money
mad.gif
That damn $700 billion bailout

In all honesty I hope people actually take time to read some of my responses as I think they're somewhat insightful and people will learn a view from theother side. I hope I at least do that service.

Well honestly, I'd rather have everything out on the table! I'd rather know as much as possible about EVERY candidate.
Whoever we're electing will be the PRESIDENT.

Well who knows if he'd accomplish allthat and/or what would happen over those 4 years.... BUT
Look at what happened with Regean serving 8 years and being VERY well liked. Then Bush serving 4 years..... that's 12 years of Republicans.... then
Clinton beats Bush. Clinton being similar to Obama in that he was a younger guy that know one knew THAT much about. Govenor of Arkansas? Really?
laugh.gif

Then he did a pretty good/good job in 1st term.... and then after 12 years of Republicans..... 4 good years of Clinton led to 4 MORE years.

Hey genius....
You ever thought that they go HAND-IN-HAND.
Us conservatives believe if Obama is elected President he's going to destroy our economy even worse, while if McCain gets in we might actually have a chance.
Obama wants to raise the capital gains tax, raise the corporate tax and raise taxes on small business owners. Just awesome ideas that will help the economy

What does Ayers have to do with comating high energy prices, high unemployment, and unstable economy?
The fact that we believe if Obama gets elected he has the WRONG answers for all those problems and McCain has the RIGHT answers. And some of those answers as to how he'd go about dealing with the problems that face this nation we believe are affected by his judgement and ideology.... which his associations with people like Ayears display.

High energy prices..... McCain wants off-shore drilling, McCain wants nuclear plants, McCain wants clean coal
High unemployment..... Obama wants to raise the taxes on small business owners, aka $250,000+, which would lead to people losing jobs.... increading unemployment.
Unstable economy..... we don't need socialist principals applied to our economy. This country didn't become great through social principals, it became great through capitalism and a free market.
The last time a president favored raising taxes, the economy was green...

Can someone help me understand something...

See i was always under the impression that raising taxes, moderately, was a good thing because the revenue went toward "maintaining" theinfrastructure of a nation--you know things like fixing the cracks on highways, to paying your local law enforcement agents so you can feel safe and fuzzy inyour nice suburban neighborhood, to paying your child's teachers...Right...

Hell part of the reason why the Federal govt has a debt of $10.2 trillion is becauseol' conservative Bush saw it unfit to raise taxes to support his Billion dollar war. Why pay for it now when the future middle and lower class can pay forit. Sure in the short run, this will make the average simpleton happy but at some point, taxes will have to be raised if debt is ever to be nullified.

My logic could be wrong though...

I agree 100%. I love these Democrats that call Conservatives "stupid" yet they don't understand Macroeconomics and that their boy is going to hurt the economy even more.

Do you know where the Gore-Bush race sat at this time in October, 2000?
Do you know who really won the 2000 election?

Plus this time, the republican candidate doesn't have a brother who is the governor of a battleground state to steal the election for him.

Everyone should check out David Gergen's part on the Colbert Report from yesterday night. He basically said how John McCain should really put an end to allthese negative attacks and also to put his foot down when it comes to the crowds at his rally's when things like "terrorist" and when racialepithets are being hurled with no regard. He got really serious and was like "John McCain's a far better man than that and he's got a good longrecord"

Are all conservatives racist, not at all, now there are some conservatives that are, but to what percentage I do not know. I will say, the sentiments that arebeing stated and the overall feeling that appears to be very vibrant from the recent McCain rallies as a black man gives me the impression that are gettingready for a lynching. They might as well just show up on camera with a burning cross on someone's front lawn. Now maybe some conservatives care about mypoint of view and maybe they don't, but speaking for myself solely I've experienced racism up close and personal and what I see right now, be it onyoutube videos or not from McCain and his conservative comrades is an extension of the ku klux klan.

My mother sent me an e-mail recently that highlighted EXACTLY the way that racism comes into play in this election. Allow me to share:

"The United States of America is facing one of the greatest challenges in its brief history. Your decisions will determine the future.
With America facing TWO (2) Expensive Wars, Historic Debt, a Weakened Dollar, Mortgage Crises, Bank Failures, all-time high prison population, stumbling healthcare, etc.

You are The Boss... which team would you hire?

Educational Background:

Obama:
Columbia University - B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude

Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)

vs.

McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank: 894 of 899

Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in Journalism

Now, which team are you going to hire ?

How Racism Works...

What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?

What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said 'I do' to?
What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?

What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Princeton (BA) and Harvard Law (JD)?

What if Obama were a member of the Keating-5?
What if McCain were a charismatic, eloquent speaker?

What if Barack Obama had an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter...

If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are? This is what racism does.
It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a colordifference."

Just remember,

Taxes are the price we pay for civilization. My parents are in the tax bracket that would get raised under Obama's plan and I couldn't support thatmore.

There would be NO way he'd win the election. At all.

Especially around the same time when it was revealed (not too long ago)...

That would be his "Swift Boat" swan song...

McCain's rallies scare me to death.

After calling Obama an 'outsider' and terrorist, how does he expect to then be able to go to the Middle East and forge relationships with people namedHussein? His own daughter is an 'outsider', and i doubt he would want her to be at these rallies where there is so much anomosity.

TBONE if you truly cannot see the racial undertones in this then you are a better man than me. It's clear the reason why those voters have become soirrational of late, and try as they may, its not about taxes.

What quantifiable initiatives has Obama put forth in his years as a State Senator or US Senator that logically lead you to believe that he advocates socialism?

As far as the AYERS thing is concerned, conservatives never mention what in fact Obama was really 'palling around' they were developing educationalprograms for kids...how dare he!

And even as far as Reverend Wright goes most people's take on him is informed solely by 15 second news clips of him saying 'god damn america'. Hasanyone really listened to his whole sermons? i'm sure most haven't, by and large dude speaks truth.

Earlier today, Obama remarked on recent outbursts of "Traitor!" "Terrorist!" and "Kill him!" at McCain campaign events. "It's easy to rile up a crowd," Obama said. "Nothing's easier than riling up a crowd by stoking anger and division. But that's not what we need right now in the United States."
In response, McCain senior adviser Nicolle Wallace released this statement, NBC's Kelly O'Donnell reports. "Barack Obama's assault on our supporters is insulting and unsurprising. These are the same people Obama called 'bitter' and attacked for 'clinging to guns' and faith. He fails to understand that people are angry at corrupt practices in Washington and Wall Street and he fails to understand that America's working families are not 'clinging' to anything other than the sincere hope that Washington will be reformed from top to bottom."
"Attacking our supporters is a new low for the campaign that's run more millions of dollars of negative ads than any other in history."

Sort of also reminds me of wrestling. Like when a tag team (McCain and Palin) are in the ring, shooting #!%*, then all of a sudden the lights go out andUndertaker (Obama) comes out of nowhere and then the tag team freezes and looks up a the monitor

MCCAIN 'BLEW UP' THE BAILOUT PACKAGE?.... It's hard to imagine the McCain campaign's response to the financial crisis being any less coherent, but today, they found a way.

On a campaign conference call this afternoon, *%@! Davis, McCain's campaign manager, said McCain deliberately "blew up" the original bailout package in order to keep ACORN from receiving federal funding. Davis told reporters:
"n the middle of the greatest disaster in our financial system that we'd had in our lifetime that the Democrats in the United States Senate would actually link payments to ACORN in the bailout package that they promoted prior to Sen. McCain coming to town and actually blowing that package up.

"So we can actually say that in addition to saving taxpayers millions of dollars, and we're very happy that no more taxpayer dollars were added to the pile of money going to ACORN. Uh, by their own admission because, by the Democrats' own admission because John McCain came to town and blew that package up. Thank goodness."

Hold on a second. The initial bailout/rescue package failed. McCain supported it. In fact, the morning it failed, McCain took credit for its passage. After it failed, the McCain campaign said this was a discouraging development, and blamed Obama.

McCain's campaign manager now believes the failure of the bill was a positive development, and that McCain deserves credit for its failure.

And what about the new-found interest in ACORN? McCain's never expressed an interest in the group before, but since the far-right is hysterical about the group lately, the Republican campaign has discovered its fascination with the voter-registration organization.

Is there any merit to the conservative complaints? Not really. Josh Marshall has a good item about ACORN, but to make a long story short, the right doesn't understand the difference between registration fraud and voter fraud.
