as a Em fan i agree he has fell off, his subject matter is becoming very boring. it's like he completely has nothing to rap about anymore. i doubt Em is gonna stick around for long anyways maybe another album or two and dude will be done rapping

Content wise Em only has a few gems anyway. What they don't like his flow now too? Dude has been declining ever since ppl got over his shock raps which no longer cut it since attacking pop artists and joke rapping about your father raping you always been whack. Through the mist of all that he's managed one great album in TES.

And for anyone to say Em's verse was only alright, really never understood the purpose of a cypher to begin with because Em was ridiculous... A cypher is about showcasing skills.. Coming out of that cypher if you are not saying Eminem is the most skilled out of the 6 who were rapping in that cypher, you were not listening to the same thing..

I see what you're saying, but then again, why does a cypher (or a freestyle even) need to be devoid of content? It doesn't have to be, and to me Em wasn't saying anything special outside some bars here and there. Alot of it was nonsense (to me) topic-wise. Something like Common in the G.O.O.D. Music cypher was both nice technically and was better imo in the topic dept. Then again though, I said that I've grown out of Em's music so 

*kanyeshrug* I just simply wanted to point out that technique is important in hip-hop, but for me it's the bottom of the rung.

What I don't understand though is how some thought that cypher was special but thought Relapse/Recovery was trash. It's not like he didn't rhyme or flow on those albums, and the content is pretty much the same.

Both of you guys are idiots. You listen to your favorite rapper because you enjoy his way of getting across to you. When you think about it everyone in rap does the same exact thing; you gravitate to those who you speak to you the most. So how is technique for the deaf then? I agree with Eminems BET Cypher sounding like a high school lunch table rap because that's what people in a circle do rapping. No one comes to a cypher to drop thought provoking rhymes to change your life. It's supposed to be fun. 

But yeah back to the point, Eminem's fallen off because he wants to sound like he did on the Eminem Show. It was when he sounded the most "normal" and had that hip hop flow down. Now when he tries to do it he ends up yelling and barely finishing words. It just sounds bad. Relapse worked because he wasn't thinking about how he sounded and IMO the accents came naturally and made his flow smooth as hell. 

Oh ok. So you agree that it sounds sophomoric for someone who has been in the game for over a decade. 
You're defending wack lyrics? But I bet you'll go off on somebody like Waka or French Montana for not having lyrics. 

...at least those last two artists have stuff that SOUNDS DECENT to where you can forget the lyrics.

Eminem is garbage and I don't let the fact that he's been around for 10 years blind me from that fact. 

He couldn't do a tour like Jay-Z if he wanted to. His catalog ain't that strong either. 

Him and 50 are in the same bag in my eyes. 

Being paid doesn't matter to me since I'm not in their pockets. I'll leave that to groupie fans who live on the edge of each word of gossip about what their favorite persona is doing. 

All I have to judge artists on is their MUSIC and if that sucks then they're a non-factor to me.

Once again, it's his awful flow/delivery and not his content. Like the old saying, it's not what you say, it's how you say it, and since Encore (outside of Re-Up
and some of BME), he's been saying everything in a trash way.

Eminem Show was definitely not his best work imo, I'd take mmlp, sslp, and infinite over em show, but em show wasn't that far off as encore, relapse, or recovery were....Eminem Show was good, but I'm saying it wasn't as good as his earlier stuff.......needs to change his delivery/ content a little bit to fully "be back" imo.....as I said earlier though, he knows he fell off (See "Talkin to Myself"- Recovery), so I really don't know why he would continue to put out mediocre tracks......

I think because it is different situations... I don't care for a deep message in the cypher, I want to see how far you can expand your abilities in terms of flow, cadence, and word play (Yes I know it seem ironic for me to say I don't care about the message, but think the cypher has to do with word play)... Where as albums you are in charge of making a story..

For example:  A cypher is like a Home Run Derby, Slam Dunk Contest, 3Pt Contest   whereas album music is the actual playoff game..

I thought Relapse wash eh... And Recovery was solid... But I was super-critical of when he diverged away from the message of the album to $@@+*$@@ like White Trash Party..

His style is unmatched.. But his content is lacking and I will be the first to concede that..

I think we may agree for the most part but differ in the severity in which we agree...

But what I will leave you with is good music requires all components present... I could have the most thought provoking and interesting subject matter in history, but if I can't stay on beat, or have simple rhyme schemes and cadence, etc. the music will become boring...  So to judge Eminem on just what he is saying and write it off as garbage is ok, but what I'm saying is technique matters... And people who write off technique as being something "only deaf people say matters" are just as bad as those who say anything intellectual is immediately garbage.. I am a person who loves the message, but at the same time I won't ignore that if you cant convey the message it will suck regardless.
