I almost turned off the tv when I saw Cookie in a gorilla costume

Ep was fun but not technically really good. The show always played that balancing act and toed the line but the finale last season crossed the line in to parody. Now it's like they can't go back.

It's hilarious that they brought Chris Rock in for that role and in the end my man Lucius just kills him. Yeah he manipulated the situation but still There's something about getting Rock to even show up for that just gets me. The whole roses stuff, Dee Ray's head, daughter that can rap and then it's over.

I expect a wild season I'll get to laugh at the way these brothers are bickering.




Also on another note, please stop bringing up Power in this thread. Yall dudes going mad hard trying to make that show relevant. Empire and Power don't have anything in common for yall to be constantly comparing the two. If you think the show is better fine. Plenty other shows better than Power and Empire. Yall can't really be that hung up on the casts being black.

Wasn't feeling this episode as much as I thought I would

I thought it was weird how Cookie was trying to erase Lucious from Empire but came running to him once the threats started coming in

I agree and I've only watched one episode....so much **** happened that I immediately classified it as a black soap opera. Only soap operas move as fast as this show

I think this show already jumped the shark. It's doing too much to get attention. Didn't buy Chris Rock as a black cannibal gangster, ridiculous. Even Petey Pablo had a cameo, which I missed also

There were in it just for the 1st episode of season 2.

sidenote: I hate the fact that Empire & Black-ish come on at the same time. Might have to switch to Black-ish.

Every time I see a gif of this chick it makes me want to watch the show for a split second...then I come back to my senses.

She is the only reason why I put myself to watch the show.

But I agree, I think there was WAY too many cameos and side stories for the first episode. Seems like they wanted to start the season really strong.

I wouldn't have mind if they kept Chris Rock alive and they continued that storyline through the season.

I felt like that Chris Rock/Lucious thing should have played out for a few episodes. Like really how you going to have a big time drug dealer killed off a few minutes after introducing him? LMAO There was way too much going on during this season opener. Am I the only one that hates seeing all of these celebs pop up in every episode?

I really hope they chill with the stunt casting.  I understand having different musicians on from time to time because that's what the show is based on

but otherwise it just looks like a parade of Lee Daniels' pals.  I think things would work better with little knowns pulling their weight in some of the smaller rolls.
