Heck Devante Swing fathered the VA movement Timbo and all them had. So in terms of talent Jodeci had one of the most talented RnB figures ever in Devante. SWV was dope but we're really pushing the definition of GREATNESS here.
How about you just say they're your favorite or appreciate them without feeling the need to proclaim them the greatest like you an AUTHORITY on all male/female R+B groups of ALL TIME?
goldenchild9 nailed it. Isley Brothers are probably also top of the stack.
If things like writing, playing istruments etc. mean anything to you in your definition of greatness.
I'm laughing at you talking about singing like Philip Bailey's range doesn't crush that whole group.
I'ma leave it at this because I think your claim is outlandish, but you're entitled to your opinion.
I'm of the belief that no REAL music lover makes these proclamations, because era's are different, music is subjective, and we should just enjoy each artist for what they delivered.
I give Devante all the props in the world. I love Jodeci. This is my era for real. Guy, Force MD's, Hi Five, Jodeci, The Boys and all that.
Freak n' You is phenomenal. That Rae + Ghost rmx is EPIC. I even like Get On Up.
But as a music lover, they not %@#+#$' with EWF. They were a band, and had TIMELESS records, and like I said, Philip Bailey's vocals blow them out.

Let's Groove
And if you really look at the Isley's catalog as well, you can't really +$@* with that either. And we can't just dismiss New Edition from the Bobby years through N.E. Heartbreak.
If you're only talking about female R&B albums from 1990-2011......well that's not really ALL TIME now, is it? Great albums don't = greatest groups.
You should've posted "Can We". That's my +$%*.
