Although I recall Penny wore some white-based Foamposite in 1997 in some home games, I never got a good look at them. I never realized they didn't have blue on them to match one of the Magic's colors. I also didn't realize they had a leather upper.

The pair Penny wore FWIW…There’s several differences from what the Foam 1’s ended up being obviously so I doubt we’d ever actually get “that” shoe…But regardless, the idea for using leather on the uppers for this pair is ridiculous…

Neither of these are what he wore. There’s pics earlier in this thread of him on the court, and the 1st samples of what was supposed to drop but got scrapped.

Here is the sample that got scrapped from earlier in the thread. It’s nearly identical to what Penny wore except for the extra blue on the tongue.

Been a longtime member, but haven’t posted in a long time. Just received these and wanted to share. Size 9. Unfortunately not my size.

It's a version of it. What he has on is the sample but with black carbon fiber shank and a blue accent going up the tongue.

Yeah I think it is still the old "sample" shape. The toe cap and all, but it is close

It's def the old sample from what I see there.. it's just a different version than the two above and not identical to the sample that was scrapped or the one dropping in Feb. If we ever got them the right way for public, it shoulda been these with the blue accent. EASY

The pair he wore was clearly an early sample…Type of hybrid between the prototypes and what eventually dropped…The outsole by the toe comes up higher than the release pair, there seems to be the “Nike” pressed into the foam on the side, the base of the eyestay is angled weirdly towards the toes, and the traction pods are separated instead of connected…

I don’t think it’s the sample shape. I think that’s the old mold shape. The OG retail pairs were shaped that way I believe..

Been wondering the same myself. I do know there’s gonna be heavy use of the “Cobalt Bliss” that they used on these on several other shoes, so maybe they wanted include these as well

That died in like 2009 for Foams lol now we ask, pray, and wham…. STILL get leather eye stays .. I know they checking this so at this point, it’s getting used as a power tool. FOH
