FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

They were really good. Crust was thick but very airy and not too dense at all. Different style than all the other typical pizza places around here. My only complaint is price, both of them were about $50.
DAMN $50 for some pizza. I probably would get one for me and the family, ham on half and pepperoni and bacon on my side. We might be getting snow here in VA so I might have to throw the Frescheta in the convection oven as the snow falls.

^^^ I don’t think $50 for two large pizzas with multiple toppings is that outrageous. I think it’s pretty standard for pizza joints that deem themselves as higher end than Papa John’s/Domino’s, etc. to charge $20+ for a large pie with toppings. At least in LA it is.

We getting tons of snow this weekend lol

Really that is the going rate? I guess we don't have any high end places here around me in VA.

Are you in the Northern VA area, I thought you were somewhere else, but you said something in another thread that made me think you were in the metro DC area.

District Taco in Alexandria was a staple when I worked down in Alexandria, right off Washington street. I would get 3 chicken tacos with bacon and chips for $11. Virtue Feed and Grain is pretty good down there, they have another place under the same management company called Lena's in Alexandria. I worked off King street and my coworker lived down there so he was taking us to all the spots.

Virtue Feed & Grain has some good drinks, but is more of a sit down atmosphere but has a nice menu. My old PM took us for doing a good job on a project, I believe I got the porkchop.

Lenas had a BANGIN sangria only available during the summer. If you get something like garlic bread the dipping sauce is a marinara but with tiny bits of pepperoni in the sauce.

Taquiero Poblano has some good Margaritas, they have a wild assortment of tacos. Coworker loved the duck taco they had on the menu. Funny they even sell the margarita without alcohol if you having a party, good idea to pick up. I'm not a huge fan of their tacos they have a nice fire grilled steak taco that I ate, however I prefer the drinks. Coworkers wanted to go so I certainly went on Fridays.

I think I heard you are engaged, nice places to take the lady on a Friday night when nobody wants to cook or just go out on the town.

Welcome to the area, there are TONS of places to eat here. Wife and I are huge foodies.

If you venture into VA often their is another food establishment that wife and I hit up called The Block. It is kind of different it reminds me of a food court, but not food court quality food.

Funny I have been twice and hit up ThaiRoots, I didn't even notice the owner is the same guy who owns the car shop that installed the tint on my S5. He closed down the other shop and now runs the Thai spot.

Damn then there is Sisters Thai also that we hit up. I went last year I believe for my birthday, I love the food scene here in VA, so diverse.

Am I crazy or is &Pizza just average at best, I was out a few months ago with the fellas and I picked up some pizza. I just wasn't blown away by it, anyone else try the pizza? Willing to try again if others have had better experiences.

Heading back to the DMV in a few weeks and these DC area food posts are making me homesick.

Might have to check out The Block.

Miss the Peruvian chicken spots the most. My wife already told me we’re going to Crisp & Juicy the first day, but I’ll probably have to go at least twice.

Padaek (formerly Bangkok Golden) is a must. Original restaurant opened by the chef that opened Thip Khao in DC. Thai and Lao food.

Also going to have to stop through Yum’s for wings over fried rice with mumbo sauce because my wife never tried it. Used to be a staple in my youth working for a moving company in DC.

My wife made us pasta for lunch
I rarely look at a Pasta dish and say, "That looks good."

But, THAT looks good.

I love &Pizza; their crust is some of the best tasting crust I have ever had.

I wish they made "full sized" pizzas

&pizza is good for those build your own type pizza like if you compare to blaze, pieology or mod... but in general the pizza is mediocre at best in comparison to NY style pizza from NY

Is &Pizza worth checking out? Y’all been to Pupatella? All that **** opened after I left and I’ve never been on visits. We have decent pizza in Austin now, so I’m not too pressed.

They opened an Italian Store a block from my mom’s house, so I go there for a slice or calzone. I guess if you didn’t grow up in it spend a lot of time one Arlington, you might not know about The Italian Store.

Lost Dog Cafe has decent pizza and sandwiches too. Good beer selection as well.

My lady isn't home tonight. Dk what to have for dinner. Forgot to take anything out to defrost :frown: .

New Chipotle employees be on some BS.

New dude was doing his best to not misuse that slotted spoon. I saw bruh put like 4 beans on this chick bowl and we both looked at him like he was crazy. Skimping so bad I had to ask for double chicken and steak. He made sure to give me the fattest glob of sour cream tho :smh:
