Yea, any sausage that I make that goes inside a bun/bread, it gets split. (Unless it has a casing).

Honestly, cooking it split gives two more surfaces to get crisped up anyway. #CharBoys

Use that "open space" for mustard/onions so it doesn't sit above sea level.

That's an odd configuration for a sandwich.
That gap between the 2 links is an issue.

I wouldn't order that but if I did eat it I would slice the 2 links to get cracks, then flatten the whole thing out to make it more stable.
