Made some pork belly ramen for the 1st time. Flavors were out of this world, but next time I’d use a pork broth instead of a soy based broth. Also id probably use a ramen noodle instead of an udon noodle.

Another KY Fun Fact, (since i'm on my "KY proud" shizz): Both Raising Canes and Long John Silvers originated in [drumroll], Lexington, KY. Oh, Applebee's, too. See, we're not that different. LOL.

Went down the rabbit hole after writing this post, and realized I forgot to mention Papa Johns, (Louisville), Applebee's, (Lexington), and of course, the ubiquitous Kentucky Fried Chicken. What I didn't know is the Jerry's Big Boy and Fazoli's originated in Kentucky, too! All within a hour of where I sit now, and most within my lifetime, and two where I went to high school. I always knew they were there, but I didn't know they were from there.

The closet thing to compare Long John Silvers to would be Captain D's. They are the A-Alikes of their realms, but both with unique batters and flavors.

Funny thing is there is ONE Long Standing LJS in this area (Forestville, MD) that people have accused of only being open because someone is laundering money.

You RARELY see anyone going to/from that place.

Music, food stands, merchandiser tents. Like I said a colonel sanders lookalike contest, the worlds biggest frying pan, deep fried everything, etc.

I got friends who live in London and Manchester KY.

Not too far fetched. One Thanksgiving Eve I brined my turkey breast in a Home Depot Bucket (with a top of course) and just left it on my porch. It was in the 20s.

Yep, the Colonel's original stomping grounds.

At one of those early franchise restaurants, Colonel Harlan Sanders had a guy working with him named "Dave". One day, Dave went out on his own and started his own restaurant. Of course, it needed a name, so he named the restaurant after his daughter. He called the place "Wendy's."

I actually met Colonel Sanders at my cousin's birthday party at Long Run park outside of Louisville. I was probably like 6 yrs old, but you couldn't forget that all white suite and the bolo tie. (YES, he actually dressed like that, daily). Over many years, I came to think that must of have been a dream or something, until about 5-6 years ago I mentioned the episode to my older brother. And he was like, [matter of fact-ly], "Yeah, that time at Long Run?", and then proceeded to break down the birthday party and why the Colonel was at my families private little get together in the park. (My Grandmother was one of his cleaning ladies, short version).

both were stellar. the first was new haven style and the other was a detroit/grandma hybrid on a sourdough crust which was something i've never had before. they were the two best ones i had while home for 6 weeks and both styles not really available here in san diego. sauce and cheese were great on both

Fridges generally run at 35-38F. If it’s that cold outside, why not keep food outside if you need the room? As long as animals can’t get to it.
