The real question is how does a person like this become a state rep? They need to start interviewing folk. The people cant be trusted.
Not hard at all to be a state rep. A lot of times people just don’t wanna run for the office in your area
This is nothing new because America has had a litany of f'd up people who have been elected to government positions in its history.
Here are examples where the "Only in America." adage is valid:
- Marion Barry, mayor of Washington D.C., got caught on surveillance video smoking crack in a hotel room in a sting in 1990.
What was memorable about that incident was that Barry blurted out, "B!%#% set me up.", when he got busted on the spot.
What's crazy is that Barry was reelected as D.C. mayor for another term a few years after his arrest and imprisonment for that transgression!
- Kwame Kilpatrick f'd up Detroit by plunging it into severe poverty during his two terms as its mayor with his corruption along with his misuse and abuse of city resources for his leisurely activities. That fool had to resign as mayor in 2008 because he was sentenced to jail after he pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice. He also had to do prison time for corruption a few years later.
- Antonio Villaraigosa never did anything criminal, but he f'd up a lot as L.A. mayor mostly predicated on immoral things like cheating on this then-wife while he was in office. What made him a bad mayor was that he was more focused on being in the spotlight instead of handling his business as a mayor. He was always at events like concerts and Lakers games. He basically used his political position to get hookups. He was just a camera loving mayor.
He got booed so bad and loudly when he showed up at the Coliseum to address the crowd at the Lakers championship parade in 2009 when the team ended up there. The people there basically showed their dissatisfaction with his infidelity with that one. The ironic thing is that the boos came mostly from his own people, the Latinos.
