He won't be there long enough to not win anything. That's why I want to get the dream team in now so the next coach has something to work with.Originally Posted by KingJames23

Good, it's not like Richt ever wins anything with his talent anyway.

Asked if he has given any thought to Texas becoming an independent, athletic director DeLoss Dodds scoffed: "Absolutely no. We have no thoughts of moving and no thoughts of becoming an independent. We love our conference."
Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman isn't convinced, writing, "While this doesn't suggest Texas is seriously considering striking out on its own as an independent, that may only be semantics. Texas is already operating as an independent to a large degree."

Multiple outlets are reporting that Texas will announce on Wednesday afternoon a 20-year, $300 million deal with ESPN to run its Longhorn Network. At $15 million per year, is it a wonder now that UT didn't want to give up the right to have its own network when it was being courted by the Pac-10? (To be fair, the school will only get 82.5 percent of the total, or $247.5 million. The rest goes to IMG College, which handles marketing and licensing for the university.)
The deal will put Texas' TV revenue at a floor of $32 million (pending the Big 12's new TV deal; remember, commissioner Dan Beebe guaranteed Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma $20 million per year) starting in the 2012-13 school year, which dwarfs anything anyone else out there is getting. (As MSNBC's Darren Rovell tweets, the deal "makes (Notre Dame) look like the Little Sisters of the Poor.")
Could this landmark agreement possibly be the first step toward football independence? If the Longhorns can get $15 million a year without maybe one football game in the equation, couldn't they easily top the Big 12's $20 million per year for all seven home games? And if so, what would they need the conference for?
