A fatal crash on the Southern State Parkway left four dead. The dead teens' friends paid respects and left candles and flowers on Monday.

They died on Dead Man’s Curve.

Four Queens teenagers were killed Monday when their car — driven by a 17-year-old with only a learner’s permit — sped off a treacherous stretch of a Long Island highway and wrapped itself around a tree.

Joseph Beer lost control of the 2012 Subaru Impreza that friends said his parents just bought for him after he “failed to negotiate a curve,” State Police officials said.

The car, which Beer had been given for graduating early from Richmond Hill High School, split in two — and tossed the teens out like rag dolls.

Peter Anthony, Chris Khan, Neil Rajaba and Darian Ramnarine — all of them 18, three of them popular graduates of Richmond Hill High School — were killed instantly and pronounced dead at the scene.

Beer survived and was being treated at a Long Island hospital.

“He’s going to be okay,” said a neighbor. “He knows that his friends died.”

Khan’s body was identified by his extended family.

“About 20 of us went to identify the body,” his grieving dad, Somdat Bhawan, 41. “We are a large family. We stick together in moments like this.”

Rajaba attended Abraham Lincoln High School and “was a funny guy,” lifelong friend Kevin Persaud, 17, said. “We grew up together. We used to make a lot of jokes, ride bikes, play games, have sleepovers together.”

“This is a terrible tragedy,” Persaud added. “I can’t believe they’re all dead.”

Persaud was the among the dozens of students who made a pilgrimage to the crash site, where the mourners lit candles, left bouquets of flowers and shed tears for their lost friends.

Some handled the anguish better than others. One angry teenager, apparently furious with Beer, barked out, “Tell the driver I’m coming for him” before splitting.

Others respectfully collected sad mementos from the scene — eyeglasses, flip-flops, a single gym shoe — before leaving.

Beer, who like his buddies was also from Richmond Hill, should not have been at the wheel in the first place, police said.

Drivers with learner permits are prohibited from driving unless accompanied by a supervising driver, age 21 or older, who has a valid license, according to the state Department of Motor Vehicles.

That stretch of the parkway is especially dangerous, according to Lakeview Fire Department Chief Heather Senti. She told the Wall Street Journal there had been two other single-vehicle crashes at the same spot Monday.

“Unfortunately, it has its own nickname of ‘dead man’s curve’ because it comes up so quickly and it’s such a sharp turn,” Senti said.

Beer’s family, immigrants from Guyana, were at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola and not reachable for comment.

Neighbor Shawn Hussani, 25, said Beer’s “parents got him the car” after he enrolled early at St. John’s University.

“He was smart,” said Hussani. “We’d always see him studying.”

Another neighbor, 19-year-old Dylan Harry, said Beer was a braniac who never got in trouble. “He’s always been a straight-A student,” he said.

Beer’s former Spanish teacher had nothing but praise.

“He was a great student,” said Sally Shabana. “He was sweetheart. I hope he pulls through.”

It’s not clear where Beer and his buddies were coming from, but they were heading westbound around 3:40 a.m. on the parkway when the Subaru suddenly roared off the highway and into some trees in Malverne, LI, police said.

“It sounded like an airplane crash,” Michael Campos, who lives nearby, told WPIX television.

Campos said when he went out to investigate, he found a horror show.

“I saw four bodies on the floor and I went by the road, on the highway, and it was slippery,” he said. “It was wet like it was just raining out.”

Investigators later found backpacks, a standardized test prep manual and a video game.

Other witnesses reportedly saw a young man amid the wreckage right after the crash, using a cell phone to light his way in the gloom.

It was not clear if this was Beer. Immediately after the crash, the State Police closed the westbound lanes of the parkway between exits 17 and 19 and began rerouting traffic.

damn thats sad. rip. but did anyone else get confused with the dudes last name being beer?

I understand the thought of the gift, but why buy your kid that powerful of a car when he only has a learner's permit. Even if he gets off, this kid is going to bear the death of his four friends.

Ima start calling you Reeperhood. Cuz you stay making death related threads.

RIP

Still don't get why these parents buy cars like this for kids that barely know how to drive. Great idea, only has a learners permit and give him a car with that much power. :smh:

wow, can't imagine living with the burden of knowing you were the cause of your 3 friends' death

i used to have friends back in high school that were really into cars and the used to always want to go out driving. this is why i wouldn't ride with them.

I mean

If u wanna go there, the car does have a pretty damn good suspension and braking system, too..

West Indian parents always give their kids nice *** cars are graduation presents.

I live in the area where these kids went to high school and I am just in shock. These kids were all my age group too and I can't help but picture this all play out. Joseph Beer looks so familiar too, maybe I have seen him once or twice. Horrible horrible news. My sincerest regards to the family, friends, and schoolmates who all have to hear this tragic news.

So sad, RIP.

As nice as driving a car "fast & furious" style, always remember we are only humans and a split second can kill us.

how exactly did they die

It literally says how in the first sentence.
i see that

imsaying how did the car break in 2, like what did they hit a tree ?
I'm going to assume you've never gotten a legit answer to this.

Rapid deceleration causes crashes. Violent ones. If you've taken physics, think of inertia, momentum and especially impulse.  When the car crumples, everything on the inside has less room to move around. You get squished. Think grapes. Seats cave in your chest. Your legs shoot up from under you. Your head flies into the dash. Then you've got the ridiculous G-forces alone that would kill you.

If you're luckily wearing a seat belt it'll reduce your chances of being decapitated if your head goes through the windshield. Also, theres a large possibility that you can be thrown FROM the car THROUGH any surface that isn't reinforced metal and treated like a rag doll. And thats the best case scenario for you.

Airbags can only deploy so fast. Oh, and they burn when they do deploy. You're more likely to be hurt from them than you are the actual crash sometiems.

Imagine going from 65mph to 0 in 5 feet.

NOT going to be fun.

EDIT:...oh you just didn't see the OP...

Man, that's sad. 3:40am with only a learner's permit? No good.

It's not just kids but it seems like people don't take driving seriously, like you can't get killed. Driving like it's a video game or a movie.

aww damn that's my hood.

looks like all guyanese and trini kids from the hill. Sad. I remember a couple years ago i think four guyanese teenagers died near jfk when their car went into the barrier.

Kids wanna live that rude boy life too soon.

Some girl i know knew the one of the kids, damb. :smh:

Kids gonna have to live knowing that he survived while his 4 friends died.
