I just randomly discovered Halt and Catch Fire from browsing onDemand.  I love that show and have been telling everyone i know about it, hope it has some longevity..

FBI said Wayne uses asian girls as his source of power

Just like LOST, all the viewers will still be lost by the last episode

I watched the first 2 episodes yesterday. The show has a weird vibe, but I am intrigued by some things. I'll check out the next couple episodes when they come out and give the show a chance.

So is Damon just throwing **** at the wall again? hooking people with strange mysteries that won't go anywhere?

Just curious because I refuse to watch but wanna know. :lol

They're really not that hooking strange mysteries.

The more of the keep watching and see where this goes mystery.

I could stop watching from here on out and completely forget the story lines as opposed to stop watching LOST and at least recall they crashed on an island, there was a strange monster noise deep in the jungle, and somehow Locke can walk but don't know why. This show has the what's up with the ppl in white, what's up with the chief, and what's up with the creepy black guy.

The daughter's hot friend. Thought the chief was about to smash until I realized it was a dream :lol Pretty clear he is going a bit crazy like his pops who seems to be a real nutbag. I found it weird that the mayor is in a relationship with him but I guess she got daddy issues.

I think there's something going on with Garvey and his daughter's friend. When that chic who lost her baby in the first ep asked him where he was when everyone disappeared, they showed flashbacks of him boning a blonde. Could just be his wife but why would the friend be in the dream though? That's just me.

Also I don't think the dad is a nutjob and actually knows a little something everyone else doesn't with his visions. Only problem is people see him do these strange things and talking to no one so people think he is crazy. I think they're alluding Garvey is starting to go through the same thing like talkin to the dude who shoots the dogs, who we still don't know if he's real or not. For all we know Garvey could just be blackin out and doing all these things without him remembering when he wakes up

^Nice forming of connections.

I forgot that. The chick who he was banging wasn't his wife for sure. That whole flashback screamed to me he was cheating on his wife.

Crazy if it's his daughter's friend cuz that makes him a pedo given it was 3 years ago and even if she's 19 still in HS that means she was 16 at her oldest then :{ Unless in this fictional town the state legal age is 15 to consent :lol

As for the chief's dad the show hasn't completely shown a strong supernatural edge to it yet. Yeah Wayne might have powers and the mass disappearances could be some sort of magic but the old man literally just seemed like he was talking to himself and so far just cuz the Chief actually did meet a guy did it seem like the whole they're going to send someone to you coincidentally match up with what's going on in his real life.

As for the bald head dog killer. I wondered throughout the ep if he was real or a figment of the chief's slowly eroding mental stability and I'm going with real. The daughter and friend clearly saw the dude. So unless the chief specifically hallucinated somebody else witnessing the guy just to quell his fear he may be making it up since this ep all the ppl keep trying to play him with only you saw him and he has some split personality that bought the truck and sniper rifle I don't see where this goes with him being that crazy.

It's three years after the event right now.
The daughter is still in high school, probably seniors

If the dad was hittin' that 3 years earlier.
That would introduce some questionable behaviour to his character

Show is eh. I watched every episode of lost and regret it so we'll see how long i'll let this fool me.

When his wife held up the paper that said, "I remember" what did she mean?
The white people constantly writing stuff is bothering me cause im usually mad distracted when I watch tv and don't have time to be reading smh. *insert didn't tread gif*

Liv Tyler asked her do you remember what it feels like to feel anything (or something like that) and then she switched topics to her husband to tie back in to answering her question.

I caught maybe altogether 15 min of that show. Off the premise alone I knew it was gonna be trash and not last.

I dunno maybe I just wasn't aware before the show but ever since LOST you can straight up tell when a network is reaching for that LOST fame and success and how it simply won't work. Especially when ABC does it :lol Also saw NBC reaching for that Heroes meets a mystery show with Believe.

sucks the show is being presented this way...so cryptic and mysterious, makes me wonder if they will have a flashback episode or episodes
(with lindlelof involved they could've just ripped off LOST format)

Everything that is going on with everyone pretty much gets revealed in the beginning of the book and then you just follow everyone on their journey.

I'd recommend everyone read the book, and just watch this show as a visual aide. that's what i'm doing

episode was good, the daughter's friend is slowly growing on me, but i'd still switch the girls roles

Rewatched the episode and on second thought, I think the bald guy is real after all. Like you said the girls did acknowledge him and he did shoot the dog in the beginning of the first ep when Garvey was taking a jog. I still do think there is/will be some level of supernatural. The crazy dad was 'told' someone visited Garvey (bald dude) and that 'they' are sending him help (maybe some sort of revelation from shooting more dogs).

I never watched Lost so I don't have the baggage I guess. I will admit the pacing takes getting used to but it gets more interesting the more they reveal things. There's like 15-20 main people and its hard to tell everyone's backgrounds and be super compelling all in 2 episodes. I'm thinking by halfway through the season, we'll know most of everyone's deal and the juicy stuff really picks up.

Also regarding the daughter's friend, not sure if it was you dhart, but someone who read the book said she's supposed to be a dime? She already got some in the party and seems like she's dtf so I wouldn't rule out her and Garvey yet

yeah it was me, she is written as a dime, and don't worry guys she's growing on me, im just a sucker for brunettes:o

also gettin some at a party and being dtf, does not make you a dime

also in the book whenever she's home she's dressed how she was in the chief's dream

ALL THE TIME

I didn't mean being dtf makes her a dime. I was saying her being a dime AND being dtf increases the likelihood of her and chief hittin the sheets if not already

When you say she's home, you mean in the Garvey household?

You read the whole book already or just readin along with the show? They leavin out much from the book at all or is it more or less the same?

You should definitely watch LOST if you have the time. It's better than this show so far.

I really think its been an interesting perspective on how differently people tend to deal with loss in general.

I find the sons story line to be the most interesting, imo his is also moving the fastest so maybe that's why.

Well written so far, just a little slow.

lol I know what you meant regarding the dime thing i was just kidding:p

i read the book roughly a year ago because the author is one of my favorites(also wrote election and little children, both of which became movies) the show is already steering from the book in terms of character roles and characters in general, which is somewhat attributing to my theory that since lindlelof is involved they will add a supernatural element to things, that really wasnt in the books.

in terms of accuracy to the book, the first episode was spot on, even the womans speech about "one more day" was word for word from the book. the only thing that was off to me was the twins(in the book one of them has dreads i believe and the other has long hair, and usually they are hotboxing the prius, so whenever they interact with the chicks they are just always blown off their arses, in the show they seem hella straight edge and dorky.
the second episode confused me somewhat as the timeline seems skewered, they are really jumping the gun on the sons story, and the liv tyler storyline starts later in the book. but as previously stated they sort of give everyone's background story and why things are the way they are, and then you follow them on their journney, there is obviously a huge chunk of the sons, and wife's story that hasn't even begun to be revealed which i find strange.....and it's going at a snail's pace

yeah i mean the Garvey household when i say home, and thats all i can really say

one thing dramatically different between the two is kevin garvey is Not a police chief in the book, he's a guy that is about to become mayor amidst the drama of the town, everything else about him is pretty accurate though.

I'm convinced the 2% were sent to the island, and bathe in the piss stream that powers it.

1 and done for this show.
