Help A Brother Out!!! Living In Northern Cali?!

I don't know, based on the picture my man animal thug posted EPA looks nice as hell... Can't see much murdering going on in a place that looks like that. But I'm not the specialist. Yall are crazy helpful so far. So I mean again considering what I'm looking for.

+ Pretty Women/ High Amounts Of Pretty Women
+ accessibility to basketball courts/leagues & exercise facilities
+ Good selection of restaurants/bars/lounges/strip clubs
+ Close to Santa Clara area

How can I narrow it down. I'm starting to now think I need to look in san jose. And again to answer some of you my budget is 1500-2000, Hopefully I can stay away from paying 2000 but if I have to I have to. I figured being in Palo Alto would be dope because I would be near stanford U which probably = women & access to stanford athletic facilities (open run & weights from time to time).

smh... just found out san jose is #6 moth expensive place to live in america....

With what your looking for Palo alto, Mountain view, and san jose would be your best bets. Mountain view YMCA has a really good indoor BBall court my bro swears by it i've only gone about 10 or so times he goes daily lol and it was great when I went, theres also a lot of basketball talent in Mountain view/palo alto.
BTW if you didn't know sunnyvale goes into mountain view, and mountain view goes into palo alto so if you don't want to pay the palo alto prices for apartments mountain view and sunnyvale are both cheaper and literally the towns next door to palo alto lol

This.

Santa Clara and San Jose are nice places to live too. Well, stay away from East San Jose at least
laugh.gif
ESSJ ain't even thaaaaat bad. I'm from South San Jose
laugh.gif

But OP, if you tryna live in SJ, try and stay near the downtown area. Nothing really poppin outside of there.

I honestly think San Jose is the best place to live. You have the VTA all over town and it will take you pretty much anywhere!

Santa Clara is ok but it's boring and there is nothing to do there. I hated living there. I would never go back.

San Jose is definitely the best place.

And omfg. Everyone shut up about the East Side.

It's not even bad. If anything it's the West Side filled with all of these wanna be gangster chicanos.

Peace Brother,
EPA is not too bad. There's a pretty decent collection of Stanford graduate students living (and gentrifying) the area. I would try to scope out some of the areas close to the border of EPA and Palo Alto. You will not be able to afford Palo Alto. Its full of silicon valley millionaires. One place to check out might be East Menlo Park. Much like EPA, its on the outskirts of an extremely well to do community the rent for a studio apartment should fall between 1500-2000.

that pic animal thug posted is the one nice block thats also next to the IKEA
laugh.gif
You can see the surrounding houses look like the average california hood

But i'm sure if you don't make yourself a target (wear all blue/red, post up on the block or whatever) then EPA won't be that bad

But i def recommend downtown San Jose if you can afford it

EPA was the murder capital PER CAPITA though..

you right. But even then at the height of crime murders hit in the 40s per year in a city that's less than 3 square miles.
but like I said its gotten a lot better. Homicide is under 10 per year. And what I meant by that comment was its got a bad rep because of the past. It ain't like that anymore
and I grew up next to sunny dale . It ain't that bad... if your from the neighborhood
laugh.gif
don't you stay in the city now animal?

This dude has a budget of 1500-2000. Just forget about even looking in EPA.

You like Asian chicks and/or food? If so Sunnyvale and Cupertino would be my suggestions.

I used to live in SJ for a while, so...

Stay in Santa Clara/ San Jose. SJ is 10 minutes from SC anyways. The major benefit of living in this area is Santana Row
pimp.gif
it's basically a mini yet upscale version of downtown (downtown SJ is pretty bland). The bars+the women
eek.gif
The nightlife isn't that great compared to SF (SF is only 40 minutes away anyways) but there way too many fine Persian/Arab/Indian girls that come through every weekend. The white girls are fine too, but it's hard to find white people in San Jose unless you live near the Saratoga/Los Gatos side
laugh.gif
. The Mexican and Asian girls here are beyond subpar. 90% of them are hoodrats and nerds; once again, you'll have to head to SF, the Saratoga/Los Gatos area, or chill around Santa Clara college spots  if you're looking for quality.

Food is pretty damn good in the South Bay Area. Lots of good Mexican restaurants in SJ/SC (La Vic's isn't "authentic", but that orange sauce
pimp.gif

), and many good Indian, Korean, and Chinese spots in Sunnyvale (10-15 minute drive). You can head to Fremont (15-20 minute drive) in the East Bay if you're looking for good Arabic and Persian spots.

If you're more into lounges than clubs, there are ALOT of good hookah bars nearby. Best one by far is "Smoke This" near Santa Clara University.

EPA is definitely on the come up.

The Ikea, Nordstrom Rack, and Best Buy plaza are helping it a lot. Four Seasons is in EPA!

10 years ago it was crazy. But just like in any area, if you end up on the wrong block, it could be bad.

questions I have from everyones feedback

- 1500-2000 per month won't be enough to afford me a nice place in palo alto? Is that true? palo alto definitely sounds like its worth considering but I don't want to stay in a wack spot either.
- do any of you know about the basketball scene in the area? How are the runs? are there leagues to play and do they have good competition? is it easy to access a gym?
- so I'm down to based on your descriptions san jose, menlo park, palo alto, sunnyvale, and cuppertino. Of these few places where specifically within these towns should I be looking? I want to narrow down the search so I can start googling spots to live @.

santa clara & EPA are off the list until further notice. I'm going to have to drive around physically before I make a decision on those spots.

if youre used to living in a not so great neighborhood youre good in EPA..its not as bad as people make it out to be. certain parts of oakland and richmond are way worse. Dont be walking around looking scary and you should be good.

if you were in palo alto, you could probably get access to Stanford's gym (don't know for sure if they do neighborhood memberships but worth looking into) and then you'd have a pretty good spot for pickup basketball.

All I know about EPA is what I learned from listening to that one Dem Hoodstarz album I downloaded and from watching the Thizz Nation Block Report from there - quality television.

- With 1500-2000? You can afford a apartment anywhere you choose really. Palo alto is only expensive when it comes to houses. Palo alto has a really nice down town area University ave has a lot to offer they even have a nice boutique there called premier they have anything you could think of brand wise other then Jordan.
- The basketball scene is really good in that area. Theres a lot of basketball talent in Palo Alto, Mountain view, Sunnyvale area. I don't personally know of any leagues but i do know theres a good amount of em in that area, and as someone stated i'm sure you can get some good pick up games over at stanford. Also the down next to palo alto has a YMCA that i hear has some good basketball talent.

- Don't personally know much about Cupertino/Menlo but there pretty nice places to live in so you should be good where ever you start searching.

-With San Jose anywhere near the down town area/willow glenn should be good i also highly recommend you check out campbell it used to be a part of san jose but they broke it up to its own town its a nice town with a cool down town/bar/club scene and like i said basically just a extenuation of san jose and a huge plus is that its close to all the good malls in the area 5 miles away from Oakridge mall, Valley Fair mall/Santana Row and about 10-15 min from Milpitas mall.

-With Palo Alto anywhere is good that whole town is money but if you'd like somewhere to go off anywhere near stanford/university ave is good to start with. With sunnyvale again anywhere you start should be good as long as you stay away from the Bernardo area its not bad by any means but i'd suggest steering away from there just to much drama for my taste around there.

east palo alto was once known as "murder capital of the world" hahah dont be a statistic move to sunnyvale..

Pick the 510. Fremont, Hayward, Union City, Newark, Oakland (Downtown) and you'll be good. Dream Courts are in Hayward too and the runs are pretty good from what I hear.

real life...

Where did you get a job (company) if you dont mind me asking? and whats your ethnicity? what type of people you wanna be around?age?

im bored as hell so ill hook you up with all the knowledge....

-WHERE TO LIVE-

s

San Jose or Santa Clara (look near kiely park ) bro do it... why?

San Jose is in the middle of everything... sort of... (i live in ESSJ, east hills and alum rock supposedly a bad area)

about 15 minutes away from... Santa clara, and campbell, 25 mins away los gatos 40 mins away from palo alto (stanford) and 45 away from SF... and san jose/santa clara is in your price range... (the woods apartment complex and some apartments down town SJ are cool 4th street) also theres some bars and lounges downtown SJ walking distance....

Campbell is nice but more expensive ... and so is palo alto but further to santa clara and more expensive... los gatos is also nice but als further... cupertino is alos like lg in terms of living

-NIGHT LIFE-

(everywhere plays music you hear on the radio basically, go to these places thursday-saturday night and you gott go certain places other times to see more people)

also when i say mexican dont think like gangsters and stuff but more dudes that look like french montana
roll.gif

San Jose

Downtown is Sj is one spot.... Downtown has lounges and bars and also SJSU... all walking distance

Downtown SJ consists of a lot of mexican people/hispanic whatever you wanna call em, also asian... some whites some blacks, fewer middle easterns... everywhere is mixed though very diverse town...

the bars/ lounges you go to in DTSJ really depend on your mood and what type of %!$*+# you wanna see...

you like pretty mexican %!$*+# and hip hop?? you go any bar/ lounge and youll see that basically... some mentionable spots... tres (bar with dancing) sabor( lounge with dancing) sj bar and grill bar (very few dancing but music)...

asain chicks... hit up ( studio 8-club and temple bar and lounge and loft)

black chicks- ummm sorta every were but i hardly see any bad ones down town...

white girls- stay mostly at the wagon some at 3 (ill get to were da white chicks are...)

Campbell

sorta apart of san jose sorta not...

mostly white people... lotta douche type dudes wearing affliction, jersey shore type not dipset type... youll see hispanics and asians and also indians, less black imo...

notable spots you will hit up are (all walking distance)

the spot- plays hip/hop, house etc stuff you hear on the radio (like anyplace i mention) dancing and lounging

and also katie blooms , more of a bar some dancing you can play darts, lotta 30+ white people dorky dudes youll get a laugh at dancing, chill place ...

Los gatos

Richer area... more white people than campbell... also more snotty chicks that look for richer dudes, fake boobs, pretty slutty etc...

notable spots...

los gatos bar and grill... dope spot, hot white girls, more like a lounge to me imo...

the place next to lgbg, i cant remerbr what its called
laugh.gif
... more relaxed that lgbg older people like 30+

Santana Row

this is borderline SJ/SC... RICH PEOPLE.... this is were they got the gucci store, brooks brothers, burberry etc.. across the street they got valley fair (best shopping mall in SJ/SC) has everything...

bars and lounges and restaurants... dope place... its a whole street/ block basically.... everyone likes going there... i like seeing the old rich men with bad chicks
laugh.gif
...

seen alot of raider players and 49er players there...

hot girls also...

Santa Clara

only place i ever been too is this spot near santa clara university... on tuesday its the best during school season... especially after midterms and last days of school
laugh.gif

hot smart girls...

SF

sf is sf... has everything and everyone

sunnyvale and mt. view suck and i never been out in PA or oakland

BASKETBALL

i havent played out doors since HS...campbell park is cool to play outdoors in the summer because it has lights till 11...

if you can afford it... get a 24 HOUR membership and play at super sport close to your work for sure... good competition indoor gym very nice... havent balled in like 2 years so i been outta the loop... also every city has its own leagues.... and alot of companies have courts ball with your co-workers...

RESTAURANTS/PLACES TO CHILL

umm every city has restaurants.... santana row has "fancier ones" and so does los gatos and palo alto... also in santana row the restaurants turn into lounges at night...

hookah everywhere...

HAIRCUT

if you want a fade/taper go to this dude in santa clara named Karvon... (a must if you are black no racist) he used to work at a dope barbershop (big jims) they had the old school chairs beers in the fridge, fights, smoking dro... but now he works at this gay dudes barbershop but still his cuts are clean and the best in the area... put it this way... i drive from east side san jose to santa clara (20min approx) to get a haircut...

any questions... PM me or ill re check the thread...

o yea dont go to pink poodle for strip club... gotta hit up sf for the good stuff...
