I've tried to get into more music, but they don't appeal to me like hip-hop does. I respect the musicality and technique, but stuff like The Beatlesdoesn't make my top 10. Why? Cuz it's my top 10.

(in no particular order):

Nas - Illmatic
Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - E1999 Eternal
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele
Mobb Deep - The Infamous
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III
Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill
The Roots - Things Fall Apart

IMO, real bands take so much precedence over rappers because of how much more skill it takes. It's way easier to rap well over a beat someone gave you, than come up with a timeless melody/rhythm combination and execute it. That is why although my iPod is almost exactly 50/50 rap/rock, I can't put a rapperinto the top 5. Kanye earns his spot because to me, he is so much more musical than any other rapper to ever live. With that being said, here's my list:

1. Led Zeppelin - Untitled (IV)
2. Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced?
3. Radiohead - OK Computer
4. The Beatles - The White Album
5. Kanye West - Late Registration
6. Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die
7. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
8. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II
9. Jay-Z - The Blueprint
10. The Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)

Honorable Mention:

Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor
Nas - Illmatic
The Game - The Documentary (I am ready to defend this)
The Beatles - Abbey Road

And some of you guys need to lay off the OPINIONS being stated in this thread...

Its your list but really gets me is placement you have 36 chambers between Be and a Ne-yo album

I like the majority of the album on your lit tho

I dont make lists a lot like that but if you listened to more music your list wouldnt be rap dominated. Give Frank Sinatra, Bob Marley, The Beattles andMichael Jackson a listen and there's so many more cuz all time is a very strong title

It's not even close for me. "Lateralus" is one of the most complete albums I've ever heard start to finish. It flowsperfectly. "Ænima" has a lot of good songs on it but the interludes and instrumentals interrupt the album, whereas on"Lateralus" they accent it. Also, I think they thought a lot more about "Lateralus" because of how it's composedi.e. "Parabol/Parabola" and "Disposition/Reflection/Triad" and how these songs are seperate but also the same which makesit all that more listenable as a whole. All that being said, "Ænima" got me into Tool, and "Lateralus" made them myfavorite band.
