**** you, respectfully, and **** the Lakers

That's how Lakers fans love it.

We want you to hate us, we want you to feel the anger, we want you to see what you will never have what we take for granted. We expect this.

Hate makes the glow of our Laker Gold shine brighter. So bright, it's blindingly sick to look at.

But as Houston does, look not with your eyes, for If you do the analytics, you will see... the Lakers have won 4 to 1.

And LASTLY, you really think the BASKETBALL GODS trust the Houston Rockets to protect the Clippers curse?

Yeah right, yall would lose to the Clippers, thus ending their 50 year loser streak.

Not anymore, you can depend on the Lakers doing the job and keeping that CURSE alive.

This isn't about the Championship, even Kobe would agree, preventing the Clippers from winning the title, is sweeter than actually winning it.

And Laker Nation cannot trust you to prevent that from happening.

No offence.

You expect for them to at least go out with some type of diginity. These losers go out like this? What did I say just yesterday. It starts at the top and this franchise is filled with losers...

time to blow it up on the real  . Yall can’t seriously think we can continue to compete with this GM, Harden, Westbrook etc

Nah man, it's not cool to go in other teams threads and talk trash. I hate when people come in the Lakers thread so let's not do it to them.

To the Rockets fans, good series. You guys fought hard, see you guys next season

This city can’t handle a rebuild, not patient enough. Good luck if you want to go through some Kevin Martin/Gorman Dragic/Chuck Hayes seasons. The team needs a total fundamental change. They went all in on small ball but didn’t realize that other teams could simply downsize themselves. Rockets had zero versatility in the lineup on top of being 2 dimensional offensively. They could make the switches, but no way in hell should you not have bigs, and not even the camp in the paint bigs, but athletic ones that could move, 6’10” at least. Russ “not being able to play with a big” was a complete charade, he played with Steven Adams for like 3 years or so. Also, taking out a big killed off Harden’s lob and PNR attacks. He did PnRs with Jeff Green pretty well, but the lobs ended up being wiped away. The steps to going way further than this crap this season is for Russ to recover how he needs to (the quad and Covid clearly affected him). The break in the season made people forget how nice Westbrook was from January (when Harden was struggling) to March when they stopped the season. Also, get some actual bigs to diversify the offense. You shouldn’t go all in on one thing and have no answer when other teams adjust. MDA clearly should be gone. Some of the same mistakes he made in Phoenix very well showed up his tenure here. It was sickening. They need new voices in here and not just that promoting within stuff. Whatever way they can smartly add depth to the roster, they have to do it. Think of the wasted roster space we had. There’s like 5-6 guys that rarely saw the floor, and that’s not good for your starters throughout a season. Peep box scores from throughout the league of these other teams. They’re playing all types of guys so they’re able to randomly come in during the playoffs and give you something.

Only someone who is not capable of talking trash to the level of Greatness, such as I...would say that.

I don't care if people come and talk trash in the Lakers thread, I am the greatest trash talker in NT History, I shut'em up and send them home as soon as I talk.

So let the Promo King(me) do what I do best, and that's be the best.

Houston Rockets could learn a thing or two about GREATNESS from me too.

Good stuff from Tucker here. Basically let’s you know that small ball takes a hell of a lot to work and leaves little room for error.

Yeah russ was our best player for a month or so for sure. He was so inefficient this whole series though. Cost us game 2 single handedly and completely changed the series. He’s our biggest movable piece and imo he has to go. Cp trade looks so so bad right now imo.

Definitely gotta make some changes that now the season is over. Russ is a great player but just doesn’t fit the system. The D’Antoni Era should be over as well. Time to move on.

And when things were on the line in 2019, Capela was beaten to a pulp by Draymond and Looney, for 6 games, and Chris Paul couldn’t beat Looney and Jonas Jerebko off the dribble.

2018 was fun, but all his flaws were magnified in losses, and even in wins showed up. A Rich Man’s Kevin McHale, even if you look at old Phoenix box scores and videos. That’s the first shoe to drop. Time for some more.

I’m actually surprised he decided to leave ASAP but he’ll probably finesse or scam another team.

this starts a new process and culture. Good. Shouts to MDA leaving pronto.

Daryl has his pros and cons and, despite what anyone says, the rockets have been largely successful in part due to his reshaping of the organization. only team this decade to make multiple WCF's outside of GSW. 8 straight years in the playoffs. one of the winningest teams over the last 4-5 years in the league. We haven't won a chip unfortunately, but sustained success is still nothing to sneeze at.

We have to address his flaws though.

I've maintained that Morey and Co. have become slaves to the math. They've taken basketball out of the game and replaced it with expected probabilities. Analytical approaches aren't bad, but we've essentially boiled our gameplay to min-maxing. It's a strategy that uses analytical models to chart who's been successful, determine the key factors in their success, and maximize our use of those factors. isolation for example. harden generates X points per possession in isolation. X is greater than other team's offense running Y system. Therefore, we'll just isolate way more. It doesn't account for why isolation generates X ppp, it just understands that he does and suggests doing that thing more. 3 point shooting is another. you shoot more 3s, you're more likely to yield a higher output than predominantly shooting 2s. the yield of 3 over 2 allows you to shoot lower percentages but yield more than a higher shooting percentage from 2. simple. Morey and Co.'s flaw is using that data to conclude "just shoot more 3s". It doesn't place enough emphasis, imo, on how the 3s were generated.

Morey and MDA were too aligned in their stubbornness, imo. MDA's SSOL was based off the premise that defenses are under the most pressure in transition and when they haven't been able to set their defense and matchups. To exploit that, we'll just play fast. As a secondary offense, it relied on high usage PnR sets that worked because he had one of the best PnR combos. Their system exploited general weaknesses of the league, but not always of the team they were playing. The suns had chances, but between his failure to make some matchup adjustments, robert horry taking a cheapshot, and cheap *** ownership, they didn't get it done.

Similar to Morey. Using data based on the leagues weaknesses, he built a team that relies heavily on isolation and its stars winning 1 on 1 matchups. The role players are relegated to catch and shoot opportunities. Over time, the organizational philosophy shifted from exploiting weaknesses of the direct opposition and shifted to generalized weaknesses of the league. biggest example: couple of years ago morey talks about how they recognized that the highest value you can yield on a possession is getting fouled on a 3 point shot. makes sense. expected output in getting fouled on a 3 is over 2 points per possession. He then got into Harden's ear with that and said more or less "you can up your ppg by getting fouled more on 3s. figure out how to do that."

Our next coaching hire has to be someone who will come in and say to Morey "we'll listen to the numbers, and we'll identify what's valuable and what's not, but we are not going to manufacture a system to cater strictly to that. if we're going to shoot a lot of 3s, we're going to generate them this way, and if they aren't there to be had, we're going to do this instead.

TL;DR: organization needs to shift control of the on-court product back towards the the coaching staff.

bonus: this tweet perfectly encapsulates everything wrong with the front office's approach to basketball.

All of this doesn't matter unless you bring chips or at the least making it to the big dance because nobody remembers this or cares. Morey sounded like a clown with his chest out about coming in 2nd place and losing to the Warriors in that one tweet months ago.

Time to kick Morey and his analytics outta there. Dude is a loser and thought he was smarter than he is. End of the day that led us to ZERO chips...**** we didnt even make it to the Finals .

I do like that theory you put about the new coach coming in and telling Morey what it is and what it will be. That could work out beautiful. Good break down

Agree with every bit of this. Morey should know by now the philosophy has to change, or else they’ll be repeating the same stuff no matter who is on the roster. And there’s been too many times where other teams have done what they attempted better than them.

disagree. flaws and all, the 2017-2018 was a championship roster and, but for an ill-timed injury and facing a top 3 team in nba history, would have won it all. You can't just dismiss that as "so what, we didn't win".

There's a lot of luck that goes into championships. The best you can do is put your most competitive team forward and hope some luck falls your way. If not for Kyrie/Love injuries, warriors might not win that first ring. if not for the biggest cap spike in NBA history, the warriors don't get KD and might have zero rings. If not for Klay/KD injuries, the raptors might not have a ring.

You also can't just dismiss sustained winning. The rockets have been consistently been a top 3 team in the west for the last 5 years. If you want to replace him, you do so at the risk of this franchise becoming the pistons/kings/twolves. He's got his flaws, but he still deserves a fair share of credit too.

Thank goodness MDA didn’t even give them an option to bring him back. I would’ve legit taken a break from rockets ball if MDA was brought back.
