Houston Rockets Thread - Preseason vs Spurs (Friday)

we all know how Mchale hates rookies, but I mean Nick Johnson should be getting at least 10 minutes, AT LEAST!

Capela should also be getting some minutes over Dorsey, open your eyes Mchale

also, how does Dmo go from missing two weeks to missing the entire season/postseason?

gotta be a serious back injury, praying for him

A win is needed. Pls. Win.

Pls win.

Nick Johnson has to be in the lineup tonight on quickness alone. I could also see Brewer possibly playing on Parker. Oh well, let's see....

#REDNATION

Seeing Dorsey check in just made my spirit die a pinch

Also, I see Johnson got some minutes. Should freshen up Terry and Prig

Aight so this the 2nd time that happened at home with Harden. Please don't let us see the Spurs in the 1st round cuz we will get out coached and bounced...again

Will post the game stats tomorrow unless somebody beats me to it, but this game turned out to be just like I didn't want, Pats/Texans 2012. How convenient that it came down to this game, and we lost? Another question, in 3 years our FT shooting went from being one of are best assets to a complete liability. Even Harden has been shaky at the line. This is pitiful on so many levels. I don't even want to go into much detail right now.

half glass full:

we missed 21 free throws, we turned it over 20 times, we're down 1.5 starters, dwight is on a minutes restriction still, and we only lost by 1 point.

half glass empty:

we missed 21 free throws, we turned it over 20 times, dmo and bev aren't coming back, and we dropped to the 6th seed.

Not sure how true it is, but somebody's tweet said that we could move back into the 3rd seed if Memphis wins against LAC and we beat N.O. tomorrow. At this point, I feel like the positive result of both games is not guaranteed. Here we go again where a Houston team needs other teams to atone for our own mistakes.

Aaron Baynes scored 13 points. Aaron ************* Baynes scored 13 points. **** missed FTs, we let a loser like that look like the best backup big on the planet.

Welp, so much for that scenario, Memphis lost, so I think the best we can do is get home court vs Portland with the 5th seed.

we pretty much got this

Brew really kept us in the game, along with Prig/Terry

gg fellas

Brewer just started to explode, and this was so much needed cause we were just going through the motions for awhile. Harden ignited as well, but his 30 seemed quiet only cause Hack-A-Rocket went in effect. Smith/Howard came up big too, as did Terry with his clutch 3s, and Prig was solid as well. Ariza continued to be the ironman out there. Does he EVER get rest :lol?

Losing the #2 seed sucked but as long as the Rockets avoid the Spurs in the first round; they have as good a shot as any to get out of the first round. if the playoffs started today the Clippers would be the opponent...certainly winnable. No matter the scenario...it looks as if the Rockets would face the Warriors or the Spurs in Round 2.

Talent wise I think the Rockets match up with the Spurs better but Popovich gives them a huge advantage on coaching.

The Warriors have beaten the Rockets pretty handily but it could be different in the playoffs...Kerr is a 1st year coach and the Playoffs are a lot more physical than the regular season. If the refs allow teams to be more physical with the splash bros on D and Howard and Josh Dominate the paint offensively and defensively Houston could certainly make it a series.

the worst part about it all is there's no way the spurs finish 4th or 5th now. so if we advance, we're playing either gsw or SA most likely

If Grizzlies, Rockets, Spurs, Clippers win out:

2. Spurs
3. Clippers
4. Blazers
5. Grizzlies (home court)
6. Rockets
7. Mavs

If Grizzlies, Rockets, Spurs win out, Clippers lose one

2. Spurs
3. Grizzlies

5. Rockets (home court)

scratch all that:

The following seeding scenarios for the undetermined 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th seeds in the western conference playoffs, should get you through another day of endless headaches and questions about who to root for:

4 way tie at 56-26 = SA 2, LAC 3, Mem 5, Hou 6
3 way tie at 56-26 w/o Hou = Mem 2, LAC 3, SA 5, Hou 6
3 way tie at 56-26 w/o SA = Mem 2, LAC 3, Hou 5, SA 6
3 way tie at 56-26 w/o Mem = SA 2, LAC 3, Hou 5, Mem 6
3 way tie at 56-26 w/o LAC = SA 2, Mem 3, Hou 5, LAC 6
2 way tie at 56-26 w/o Hou, LAC = Mem 2, SA 3, Hou/LAC 5, Hou/LAC 6 (LAC holds tiebreaker over Hou)
2 way tie at 56-26 w/o Hou, Mem = SA 2, LAC 3, Hou/Mem 5, Hou/Mem 6 (Mem holds tiebreaker over Hou)
2 way tie at 56-26 w/o Hou, SA = Mem 2, LAC 3, Hou/SA 5, Hou/SA 6 (SA holds tiebreaker over Hou)
2 way tie at 56-26 w/o LAC, Mem = SA 2, Hou 3, LAC/Mem 5, LAC/Mem 6 (tiebreaker determined by conf. record which could be tied at season’s end. Next is record vs playoff teams in own conference, including ties. Mem currently 19-11, including games w/ both NO & OKC. LAC currently 16-13, including games w/ both NO & OKC)
2 way tie at 56-26 w/o LAC, SA = Mem 2, Hou 3, LAC/SA 5, LAC/SA 6 (LAC holds tiebreaker over SA)
2 way tie at 56-26 w/o SA, Mem= Hou 2, LAC 3, Mem/SA 5, Mem/SA 6 (Mem holds tiebreaker over SA)

– Houston can still win the southwest division and be number 2 seed.
That would require the following:
Hou: 2-0 (at Cha, vs Uta)
SA: 0-1 (at NO)
Memphis: 1-1 or 0-2 (at GS, vs IND)

i think our best bet is to lose 1, stay at 6, hope everyone else wins out and we play clips in the first and SA is the 5 seed or any scenario which puts us at 2 and SA at 5

agreed though. if we don't hit free throws it doesn't matter.

ultimately i think we'll regret not grooming nick johnson or KJ McDaniels this season. in fairness to mchale though, the injuries haven't allowed us to win comfortably like we should.

Dorsey is an awful NBA player. Nick Johnson, KJ, Capela, and K-Pap need to be getting all his minutes
