How Steve Jobs drove without a license plate

In his time, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was known to drive around Cupertino, Calif., in his $132,000 Mercedes SL55 AMG with no licence plates.
Many theories were conjured up to explain this baffling sight: Jobs had a special permit to drive with no tags; Jobs paid off any ticket the police would throw at him.

But the real reason falls more in line with the tech guru’s reputation for thinking outside the box.

According to a report from ITWire, Jobs found a loophole in California vehicle laws and simply took advantage of it.

In the Golden State, any driver with a brand-new car is granted six months to attach a licence plate to the vehicle. But Jobs, rather than associate his identity with a numbered plate, opted to simply lease a new car every six months.

That’s the story told by Jon Callas, CTO of Entrust. Callas previously worked at Apple in various senior security roles and so was probably privy to some inside info.

ITWire’s David Heath explains further:

“Jobs made an arrangement with the leasing company; he would always change cars during the sixth month of the lease, exchanging one silver Mercedes SL55 AMG for another identical one. At no time would he ever be in a car as old as six months, and thus there was no legal requirement to have the number plates fitted.

why would you?  
if you have the money, you can afford to pay a car note all the time and have a new car every 6 months and not worry about anything.

people with real quap do this...............no point in buying a car unless its of some type of value to you personally.
