Hey buds, been off-line for about 2-3 days because I think chrome/microsoft update has screwed up my internetz connection.

Right now i'm using my old computer hooked up to my roadrunner modem, so for sure it's not a modem problem.

On my newer PC everytime I go into chrome and click one of my preset tabs it tells me that the dns server is not responding...anyone have any info on this problem or been through it?

I did some reading about it yesterday and i'm not the only one facing this problem.  Seems like the problem is the recognition of IP addresses but i'm speaking out my @%+ at this point because i'm computer illiterate.

It's also not my nic because I swapped it out to no avail.  Any help?

Did your power go out recently? Either way try this and see if it works, i had to do the same thing back in the summer.

1. Click Start. Type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
ipconfig /flushdns (there is a space between ipconfig and / )

It will show the message successfully flushed the DNS resolver cache.

3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
ipconfig /registerdns (there is a space between ipconfig and / )

4. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

ipconfig /all (there is a space between ipconfig and /)
The ipconfig /all command displays Windows TCP/IP settings for all your network adapters.

If your IP address for your Local Area Connection is either 0.0.0.0 or 169.x.x.x (where x is any number), then your computer is not getting an IP address from the router.
If that is the case, try this:

· ipconfig /release in the command prompt and press ENTER

· ipconfig /renew in the command prompt and press ENTER

Test it again by typing ipconfig /all to see what the address is? (If you are on a home router, it should start with either 192.168.1.x or 192.168.0.x or 10.x.x.x)

DC I tried doing this yesterday but when I do the first step the screen says i need "elevation" so after that idk what to do...

tried pinging but nothing happened. Truly frustrated at this point...

If you need elevation run cmd as a administrator.

To run as administrator
Start > type in CMD on the search bar
Right click then select run as administrator

Yea so i'm still stuck on this problem....i've gotten lazy to fix this problem on my new comp but I was wondering if factory restoring my pc since I don't have much saved will solve this problem...?
