Why do you start?..no one was going in this direction...

OP...just move out to one of the improving areas in the Bronx or Harlem.

You'll be safe, in the middle of everything, close to Manhattan and around a lovely variety of tender vittles.

Good times on a budget.

bro.

it's like moving to mexico, now that you are in USA.

but to each his own....

) the newly coined term for the gentrified areas of the South Bronx, closest to the city; sections of the North Bronx are nice also.

Harlem is a quickly changing neighborhood. Starbucks and luxury condos are replacing crack vials and tenements. 116th, 110th, Washington Heights...there are alot of up and coming communities Uptown.

Just stay away from the pockets of the city that are rough around the edges...you'll know them when you see them. But you're from the Bay. So youshould be good in the hood. Its New York not Beirut.

Studios can run from 600 - 900 depending on where you are.

1 rooms...800 - 1,200

You can rent a room for like $100 a week.

Harlem is more expensive tho.

A lot of variation. Just gotta look around. Check Craigslist for a better idea.

The heights/Dykcman is where my Family lives.

and I got boys in harlem

i enjoy all 3 of those spots if u dont mind the hood its not to bad but just watch ya self.

You could easily spend under 1 G on those places.

NYC goes hard mane u will love it.

I've enjoyed both coasts.... the west is better IMO but it depends on you. Snow was cool as a kid, but I wouldn't wanna deal with that at thispoint. The lifestyle is more laid back here as well.

how much is your budget for monthly rent?

those spots ABH posted are cool too.

if you're gonna have a car ( if not, at least patient with public transportation ), you can venture out to westchester county where you can find cheaperdeals yet still close to the City.

depends where though.
