Import/Export Business Experience?

Greetings:

I'm looking to start a small export business of goods from the US to a Latin American country, Colombia specifically.

Does anyone have any experience of exporting goods out of the US. Most people I talk to import goods from Asia, so Im having a hard time just hearing some stories and getting some perspective.

I'm hoping to sell a certain over the counter vitamin that I know could sell in the country.

Any help, advice, or general info/stories would be very appreciated!

I import from Asia all the time, but exporting can be tricky and some of these countries are very difficult to deal with. Make sure you know the customs duties fees on the goods you are shipping out and if it is even legal in Colombia, if there are any issues or grey areas it is very easy to get your goods held up and basically taken by Customs....

starting up an import business myself...don't know much yet, but it's probably a good bit different than exporting. good luck though.
