In NYC, what are some good neighborhoods outside of Manhattan?

Have you looked at places in Alphabet City, LES or Chinatown... You can find some reasonable places there.

I wouldn't mind living in the city either, just that finding a reasonably priced place is more rare.  especially if i was just gonna get a studio.
