iPhone 3.1.2 Question

I have a 3g ipobe running 3.1.2 however I want to restore it back to 3.1.2 so I wipe everything out but still be able to unlock it? How to I restore it and keep the 3.1.2

Download the version of 3.1.2 specific to your phone here
Plug up your iphone. Hold shift and click restore (Option if youre on a mac) and navigate to the file you just downloaded
Wait for restore.
Done

will not work apple only signs 3.1.3 restores you're gonna have to shsh your ipobe.
