Is America's biggest problem loneliness?
People said that post-graduation life would be great because you'd be making money and have time to pursue your hobbies.
I miss my college living arrangement a lot when it was 8 of us living in a house. Def a lot more lonely compared to then
It's pretty subjective. Some people might be among dozens of people and still feel lonely while others have one soul mate they spend 100% of their time with and be content. Others are solitary by nature and would rather be alone but aren't necessarily "lonely."
What defines loneliness? No friends? Staying to yourself?
I'm on the cusp of deleting all my social media accounts. Selfies and narcissism have made it almost intolerable. Facebook in college, where you had a profile pic and a wall was perfect. Should've ended there.you would think Social media would help with this but how many real bonds are made thru there.
i feel that a lot of older people never developed hobbies...and through hobbies you can meet and interact with folks...
i have a few coworkers who are well into their 60s and 70s, but wont retire...i know they are financially set, but they go to work because they have nothing else to do...
IG birds may base their value on the # of likes/followers they get.Internet has played a big role. When you're browsing the net you are constantly getting a dopamine hit. Then you go out in the real world and can't muster up the energy to get to know people. Your reward circuit is messed up because your brain is so accustomed to getting what it wants in the form of Google searches, IG, porn, good music, lulz, message boards with like minded people, etc.

There are plenty people making bonds with people on the other side of the globe, it's happening a lotyou would think Social media would help with this but how many real bonds are made thru there.
You have complete control on who you friend/follow on social media. It is what you make of it. There are plenty of people who use FB for it's original networking purposes.
