Here's the logical error in your thought process. People like Sammy Sosa change their appearance because they live in a society that shuns the "race" they were born as. They are ashamed of who they are and they use cosmetics to try to become MORE ACCEPTABLE to society.

This is the exact opposite for a transgender person. They are born with the appearance of what society considers NORMAL, but they feel like they a born in the wrong body. This biologically driven urge creates an dissonance between physical appearance and gender identity. Eventually they can't take it anymore and they transform into something that society does not approve of. The only thing keeping transgender people from making the change earlier is horrible human beings. That's it.

2 different transformations that cannot be compared. In fact the motivations are the exact opposite.

But nobody said bleaching was the same as people become another gender....

So a woman without an effective uterus isn't a woman? Who is more of  a woman, one born without ovaries who has the hormonal make up of a man or a man who artificially uses female hormones to look more female?

Cmon man. Up until 5 or so years a go a "woman" was all that. Now we have people bending the meaning. By definition you can choose daily if you want to be a girl or a boy just by how you feel. FINE, do that, but don't expect to say that and join the wnba or enter a woman's bathroom and have things work for you.

And then we have the whole body changing surgeries and such. These transgenders get breasts and cut off their meat. Tell them that doesn't = woman because they sure believe so. They express they want to be who they really are yet get all sorts of surgery to change who they "really" are physically. Laughable

I don't care about Bruce btw. I won't lose sleep or even think about this again after a week, but that doesn't mean I can't quickly comment on the topic.

i see some people in here are still confusing sexual orientation with gender identity.. you can be a transgender person & attracted to whomever you please, gender is of the mind, sexual orientation is a matter of the heart [as far as your attraction to whomever] & your biological sex can be male, female or even intersexed. also i wouldn't consider a man that is attracted to a transgender woman as a homosexual, but that's another story for another day, some of you are saying he's not a "real'' woman because he's not attracted to men, so what about lesbians, the moral is there are more grey areas when dealing with these topics than people discuss, and we need equality for all.

i applaud bruce for his journey, but more importantly i applaud him for speaking out on the violence & murder of so many transgender women of color, that's the part that surprised me the most, i don't want to be in a world where children would rather commit suicide than live their truth because of what other people think of them or how they are treated, it has to end. you might not agree with it or understand it, but you don't need to disrespect someone for living in their truth.

i agree with you. i can't imagine what it would be like for what they must go through to live their lives. it truly is sad to hear about kids that are bullied and killed because of what they identify themselves with and scared because they feel that they have nobody to turn to.

Just to be clear Bruce Jenner is biologically a male and will always be. He isn't seeking to be a female, he has never said he is a female. He is seeking to be a woman and to be perceived as a woman.

Female = Biology

Woman = Society's perception

Can Bruce Jenner be a female? No he can not, can he be a woman? Yes he can.
