I get his point but we are in the era of Workrate. But much like Pro Boxing, I feel like when the Heavyweights are presented as Larger than Life Stars, WWE feels more presentable to the Casual Fan. It is what it is. Blame Tape Trading and the Internet.

WWE will always be WWE.
People aren't allowed to be themselves in that system.
They pluck workers from the Indys, let them continue to WORK in NXT, but when they get to the main roster they neuter them.
So to even get that initial look, aside from a few, you have to be able to put the work in.
MATCHES matter more now than Mic-Work / Storytelling. (Which were more important in the past eras).

I will say that there is more of an emphasis on "Fancy Moves" in this era.
I think that is what the general population views as workrate.
I don't personally find match structure to be superior today when compared to 20 years ago but people seem to enjoy the video game wrestling of today.
