He can't guard anyone. I give him a pass for not being able to guard Ray Allen, but Eddie House abused him also.

He has worked on getting stronger, so I can praise him for that dedication but he has the EXACT same problems now that he had his whole college/NBA career....

1) he cant defend. Way too slow laterally.

2) one trick pony. He can shoot but he gives you little else, no assists, no boards, no steals.

3) his shot accuracy in college was sorely overrated because of the media. Seriously, Rashad McCants had a higher 3 pt percentage than this guy, yet Redick was considered one of the best shooters EVER by many!

Reads post...... looks at avy....

you know there is a middle ground right? Its not, Redick Lover or Redick Hater. I can appreciate that he has improved his body, but he lacks seriously in defense, assists, rebounds, steals or anything NOT shooting. Not to mention, he really stunk it up some games in the playoffs shooting the rock

ohhhhh wow, what a middle ground. Youre giving him credit for getting muscular yet bash all of his basketball abilities that arent shooting. Thats really compromising.

but nothing I said isn't true. You do realize that correct?

Seriously, he is the perfect example of why the NBA has too many teams. The talent level is watered down now. 20 years ago, he's not even on an NBA floor. Of course, he wouldnt be now if not for Lee's injury.

Boss...you are coming off as a salty dog here....JJ Redick is a perfect example of why the NBA has too many teams? Go sit yourself in a corner somewhere. You're saying a shooter like JJ Redick wouldn't be on an NBA floor 20 years ago?

He's getting drafted in the first round whether it is 2006 or 1986. Everyone and their momma is giving him credit for the defensive job he did against Ray Allen. No, he's not going to be up for the DPOY any time soon, but it's foolish to say he didn't do a GREAT job guardiing one of the all-time greats in the C's series....give credit where credit is due....I mean +*+@, I even came around on Melo. If you're looking at things objectively, you can appreciate the defensive job Redick did over the past week or so. Why can't YOU see that? And yes...your avy might be the reason as to why.

if you think Redick wouldve been a lottery pick 10 years ago, youre crazy. Ray Allen could do whatever he wanted. All shooters miss shots.

Secondly, if he is so amazing, then why did Orland wait until they had INJURIES to play them? Their own staff let him ride pine for over 2 years.
And what did he and Turk shoot in game 6? Great shooter I thought

Where did I say ANYTHING about him going LOTTERY 20 years ago????

So, you are attributing Ray Allen's struggles to him "just missing shots?" No, he was being chased all over the court and had a hand in his mug95% of the time he went up to shoot. No one (at least not me) is going to argue about how or why JJ got the minutes he did. Obviously a couple of factorsplayed in to that decision. However...there is NO denying that Redick made the most of his opportunity. Here's a guy who everyone labeled as a shooterand nothing else, but came up HUGE by playing strong on the defensive end when his shot wasn't falling. If Damon Jones' shot isn't falling,he's out of the game. If Eddie House's shot isn't falling, he's out of the game. You can go on and on with shooting specialists/instantoffense type of guys who would be PULLED from the game if they aren't putting the ball in the hoop...Redick found a way to help his squad WITHOUT doingwhat he's known for...and that is shooting. I just don't get why it's so hard for you to give credit to the guy for doing a good job. Like I saidbefore, the TNT crew saw him playing good defense, and the color guys as well....you must not have been watching or paying attention. Oh that's right...nocredit can be given because "all shooters miss shots."

The man held down Jesus and another, dude claiming he has the beststroke !!!

WOW, slow down folks, JJ ain't do %%$@. Boston, justnever came out to play, I think all of those Chicago OT's wore them down ! Orlando was a better team, YES but please let's not get ahead or ourselves,Orlando won because of Turk and Superman and the rest of the squad was just riding along !! Also because Paul Pierce tried to do too much...

if thats holding a player down, we have different ideas of good defense.

Secondly, if he is so amazing, then why did Orlando wait until they had INJURIES to play them? Their own staff let him ride pine for over 2 years.

Dude, youre totally missing the whole point of this topic and are just bashing on JJ because he went to Duke. That's all.

again, Allen scored 23 pts and shot 50%. So are you giving Redick credit for holding him under 30?

He will never be a consistent starter because

he cant defend, he HAS to foul which is why he routinely fouls out or gets to 5 fouls

he doesnt rebound

he doesnt get assists

he doesnt get steals.

Hes a one trick pony and even that isnt consistent. Literally the dude just shot a horrendous percentage in the past 3 playoff games.

I dont hate him, I just think its a joke he was drafted in the lottery. I too think the person who drafted Renaldo Balkman should be fired as well

So...let me get this straight...the 50% that Allen shot in game 7 outweighs the 32% he shot OVERALL in the series?

He was a great scorer in college and I appreciate him getting PT in the NBA because maybe we'll get to see his great scoring again. The end.

considering people are saying JJ basically shut him down the last game, then yea it does.

Im not going to keep going on and on.........if you think JJ Redick is either A) a legitimate NBA starter or B) can guard Ray Allen or any other decent player, nothing I say will change your mind

if you're appreciating Redick getting PT in the playoffs, you're gonna be in for a rude awakening cuz he's going back to playing sparse minutes nowthat we're past Boston.
It just so happens that 1 of the things JJ is good at on defense is running like a mad man off of screens and that happens to be all Ray Allen does most of thetime. The reason Ray scored more in game 7 was cuz they ran different plays for Ray such as pick-n-rolls and such.
I give JJ props for D'n up Ray, but he CLEARLY is not as good as CLee or Pietrus.
I actually like JJ's play making and passing in our offense more than his shot. He's not very consistent shooting the ball, but he runs the offensepretty well when he's called upon. Him & Gortat on the pick&roll is nice.
But yea, against cleveland he'll get hardly any burn.
