Thing is I don't know what to email the HR dept. lol because The app shows The Application status, which just says in progress smh.

#%#$ is for the birds. yall have no idea how frustrating it is to deal with government and civil service.

ive worked on this job appointment for 3 years building knowledge n all that...joint ends in a month

I wasnt trippin when I started cuz I knew I would be attending grad school(just graduated) so I took the position and the salary...not thinking twice that the "actual job title" didnt require a degree because I knew the kinda work I would be doin, gaining experience and the pay was straight

3 years later every job I apply for in my state government is sayin I dont have "professional" experience...its @#$@# bull man...they dont give a @$#@ about the job duties at all....they read off a @#$@ spec sheet like their robots... mix that with all the budget cuts....and im completely @$%$# ed on that aspect of my plans to land sumtin

My friend says I should chill and not send the email yet because it's only been a week since I applied but man idk, I`m just ready to get a gig

How do yall , if yall do...go about finding the right HR people to address with your cover letter when you applying on the employers career site?

I dont think it matters so, I just be putting hiring manager(although I hate that) but I let one of my peeps who works in HR check out a sample of one of mines and he said I should always try to address it to someone and to try calling to figure out the right person.

but how the hell do u find a number when u applying for these type of gigs?!?!

I wouldnt worry about a number. If you can find a HR person, use their name. Otherwise, I really wouldnt be addressed to anyone it may get lost in the shuffle (if someone is really checking the cover letter and such). Also have to hope the HR dept even gets your stuff to the person you addressed. If you cant find a name, use the general address.

Depends on how you found the job.
If it is through the company's website, I suggest going to the company and asking who is the point of contact for the position your vying for and going from there. I say go to the place just because (from experience) mf's like to give you the run around on the phone, so when in person they're usually more direct (read: open) with you. They'll also cough up the contact info, the person's schedule, etc.

If you're following an internet trail you may come up on more dead ends than actual points of contact. The internet has changed up the job hunt game tremendously! No one really does paper applications anymore, which sucks because most managers were willing to set up interviews on the spot (hire on spot)--some still do but they're a rare breed.

I'm in the process of being laid-off/transitioned from my job. Totally blows!!!

My apt complex wants to know if I'll be renewing and I have to let them know by the end of the month. It sucks cuz I don't even know if I'll be able to afford to stay up here or even finish going to school for that matter--my life is pretty much reliant on this job situation. So far, I keep getting the "thank you for applying, but we regret to inform you" and I'm limited in what I can take because of my school schedule--no evening classes offered and it'll be a hassle to transfer schools. I'm losing it and everyone around me is telling me it's going to be fine, all I can do is face palm. Feels like utter rape.

Round table pizza delivery driver son lmao. Lose a part of my soul every time i put on that uniform. Im 26 yrs old and everybody i work with is just outta high school and my supervisors are 19 years old. Dont really got too worry about food though since i stay eating the food for free. Keep pushin guys had numerous interviews for different positions as well things might be looking better real soon.

my friend worked as a catering driver when he was laid off. paid him min wage plus 25 for every delivery. worked out to be about 35/hr, not bad for an hr worth of work. usually did 3 deliveries a day. you got to do whatever to pay the bills and put food on the table.

pshh i wish i got 25 bucks for every delivery i get a whole dollar for every delivery i make plus minimum wage which is 8 bucks here in cali.....and on top of that tips aint even that great

anybody making progress this week?

i went to church the past two weeks...message reached me definitely, but I also got confused

had a job interview yesterday and i filled out all the paperwork and there was a part where they asked me if they could contact my past employers. i checked no for some of my old employers and put yes for my most recent job (which i worked for the last 2 years). my old jobs were 5 and 7 years ago.

got a call today from the HR person asking me if they can contact my old employers
eyes.gif
none of my coworkers/managers are at those old jobs anymore. i told them they could try and contact them but i was unsure of who they could talk to.
i dont think this bodes well for me

Just graduated from school last month with a BA in Communication and a minor in Marketing...

April 7th got a call from Nike about a "Marketing specialist" gig...Did a phone interview since i was out-of-state for school and said they were floored with my resume and wanted to set up an inperson interview after I graduated for May 16th...I was so $#+%@#! geeked
eek.gif

So i do the best thing and try following up with them a few weeks before the actual date and they never got back to me....started to lose hope...
frown.gif
Chalked it up as an L and that they offered the position to someone else...

Now im back at square 1 applying for any $#+%@#! job I can get now...must've filled out 24 apps from last thursday-sunday...I have a feeling this will be a good week, but %*!!....only God knows

#*&! lie on your application if you're trying to get in at a restaurant.. I know a few people who had no experience serving and all that as a waiter/waitress and they just put they worked here or there and put down the number.. but the place they used was a family friend who owned a restaurant

I got a phone interview, and waiting on an in person interview for another job this week...also waiting on the results of an interview from last week, I'm praying I can make something outta those three cuz its getting rough out here
frown.gif

Count me in gentlemen. But, my unemployment is going to be self made. I'm moving back to NY from NC at the end of the month. I forgot how time consuming and disappointing job hunting can be. I have an interview setup when I get back up there, but I'm looking for a better gig than what they're offering.

Anyone Work At Best buy? I want to apply to a Geek Squad Supervisor position, but I see a million openings everywhere and I`m assuming thats like a glitch lol.

Congrats.

I'll be spending all day filling out this security clearance for my new job. They want to know everything I've done for the past 7 years with no gaps, references for everywhere I've lived and every job I've held, credit reports, etc...

Glad I got the job though.
