Jordan Retro 1 '85 Black/Red Feb 14th 2025

Have a feeling this release will be terrible and loads will strike out. No way we getting 2016 banned numbers with these. Those were borderline super GR. Almost every store here had em...even ones that normally didn't get OG highs. Remember for a while only certain shops got og highs. Mainly boutiques. Pretty much how 85s are now.

There is no way they can sell a massive GR at $250 retail lol I wouldn’t be surprised if these are extremely limited to like <50k pairs.

They desperately need to make these limited so they’ll sell out and they’ll try and bring the hype back to AJ 1s in order to have those pairs also sellout and increase the retail price on other pairs across the board as well.

I’m really hoping the price and the general state of 1s will drive a lot of douchey resellers away.

That is pure evil.

Is the red suppose to go up that high from the toebox to the tongue?

I thought the same thing.

The plot twist.

Unload an insane amount at 250 to make huge bank. They know long term resellers and collectors will cop plus all the ppl who always dreamed of owning em. Gonna definitely be interesting 👀

I really think everyone will have these. The commercials are an awesome thing JB has done here. I have a hard time thinking they will limit these for future sales of other colors that we all can make on 2K lol. It just would not make sense. Its the 40 year mark, this color by far is the most popular ever, they are making a crap ton of these. Nike would be stupid as hell to limit these.

Then why promote them the way they have?

To just generate hype then limit them to re-create sneaker hype?
They need the hype to return back to AJ 1s in general. This way they can actually sell pairs at retail prices again instead of every release being discounted to < $100.

Between these 85 Breds, OW1s, and SBB 1.0s, I honestly think they can do this next year.

Wouldn’t that be the case for every retro? BC3s and Columbia 11s are selling but they seem to not be brisk movers like in the past.

COVID and Last Dance had the retro game on fire. I was taking Ls left and right.

I think the difference is that the profit margins on AJ 1s is easily the highest of any JB Retro. IIRC, it costs them around $20 to produce a pair of AJ 1s and they are selling them for $180-$250 for OG Highs and 85 Breds on the latter end of that spectrum.

I think with AJ 1s, they've flooded the market so much that retailers are sending back pairs to Nike (look at the recent Midnight Navy OG Highs, for example) since they are already under retail on the secondary market (StockX, GOAT, etc.) BEFORE being released. They have to pull back on this strategy if they want pairs to sell at retail and, unfortunately for us consumers, the only way for Nike/JB to do this is while still generating a decent profit is to make the shoes less accessible (by creating less stock) and more expensive (hence the $250 retail).

Once they've successfully done this, more interest in the AJ1s in general will have been generated-especially if they reduce stock enough that people aren't able to get every release under retail again.

So the dude that does Sneakerfiles on YouTube stated that these have “improved comfort and materials”. He also stated that they’ll be a somewhat limited quick strike but is not 100% confirmed on release details.

Convo for these starts at 19:25. Link…
