Cool. My plan was to paint them, just looking at different methods. I thought of a dye base before but was told to forego and just paint. Saw his post and had to ask. When you say dye, did you use leather dye as a prep or a water paint mix? My test pair should be here next week and I'll be starting them soon. Doing a test pair first before I do my own.
Just use acrylic paint. It will bind to the leather after you let it dry for a while. I tried scratching off the paint before I put the finisher and nothing came off.
I've read on a leather forum that the first light coat can be watered down to allow the color to be absorbed by the leather. Then thin coats as normal. When you say dye, did you use leather dye as a prep or a water paint mix? My test pair should be here next week and I'll be starting them soon. yeah black leather dye first. try to avoid water/paint mixes, angelus is water based you dont wanna thin it out too much. good luck and post some progress pics

Peeped my local JJ for a possible double up and see what other sizes were available, ALL GONE. Lol I was just there last week. Didn't expect that at all.

It's because of the threadIn my area, it seemed like people were waiting for them to get marked down. Grabbed myself a second pair, went back a day or two to oop member's here, and they were gone.
A Blue Shattered Backboard CW would look dope! I was thinking about doing that too.I've been hating on these customs since it didn't feel "right" customizing royals and frags but F it, these frag colorways looking really really really good. Might tweak it and make it a blue shattered backboard
Yeah use duo's guide or look up the custom laser 1 videos on youtube. Also, people say use turtlefeathers because their prices are cheaper but that's not true. You end up paying a lot for shipping. They base their shipping prices on weight so the shipping for all the supplies would've been around $12.Can anyone direct me to a list of supplies needed to do customs? Or a DIY thread.
Additionally, is there a site where I can pick up the majority of the supplies(paint, brushes, finishers, etc)?
Thanks in advance!
Here's a quick and rough Photoshop mockup I've just done.I've been hating on these customs since it didn't feel "right" customizing royals and frags but F it, these frag colorways looking really really really good. Might tweak it and make it a blue shattered backboard
Eh I used to feel that way too, but who cares anymore. At least they aren't fake, b grades, or grey marketI've been hating on these customs since it didn't feel "right" customizing royals and frags but F it, these frag colorways looking really really really good. No problem. Also look back at other comments for tips. Few things I picked up on: cover up the midsole when wiping off excess dye on the soles or you might smear some of it (which I will tell you now, it's a pain in the ***), careful heating if you do the GAC 900 method for the sockliner because the plastic heel cup might become misshapen, it's easier to just paint the whole tag black and then coloring the letters with whatever colorway you're doing so you don't leave any white spots, and just use paint straight up for the tag because paint+water(or GAC) mixture is too watery for the lettering. Also, duo's method of painting edges works great using a butterknife.@JabbaTheHutt & @Jayocampo Thank you for the response! Much Appreciated!
Go for it! I reckon it looks great. I might do the same - I just gotta find another pair of Lasers for cheap.REPPED. That's it, I'm doing the custom. Very very dope
I had smoke come out of the sockliner but not the tongue. I think it's supposed to smoke with the sockliner. I remember duo commenting on that. It would smoke for a little bit when I paused in between heating and eventually stopped after about 2-3 pauses.
Great advice @Jayocampo. Repped!
Also be very careful with the heat gun because it's easy to melt or burn things. Some of the fabric on the back of a tongue started to smoke on me.

Thanks for the additional advice jayocampo
I will be picking up all the supplies this weekend.
I am considering doing a What The Jordan 1 with the OG colors. I'll work on some PS mockups this week.
If anyone is good at PS please charm in...
Me too. But angelus doesn't have grey.
