I can guarantee you they didn’t address the patent leather issue. Or lack there of. These are pics of my pairs after about an hour of hooping in them. I’ve hooped in originals, 2001 retros and everything in between and they have never looked this bad.

Point blank they are using the cheapest possible materials and charging the most they can. Paper thing “patent” will do this.

Did cool greys do this tho? Serious question. I’ve only worn mine twice, but I have no signs of creases or lumps like we’re seeing on these Columbias. This is bittersweet. Bitter cuz I’ll be without Columbias for another 10 years or so. Sweet cuz I’ll save $243.80.

I’ve worn my Cool Greys more than I can count and I still don’t have too much creasing. Not like I’ve seen in photos of the Gratitudes at least.

Edit: I hit on the Shock Drop and I’m hopeful about the Columbias. I returned my Gratitudes immediately last year because the patent leather looked so bad on my pair

Probably because most people don't actually ball in their $250 retros... but there's no reason they shouldn't be able to considering they are still $250 basketball shoes.

Anyway kickscrew has this for retail rn, $250 shipped same as Nike for those who missed the shock drop.

The PL has been an issue since 2010, they have not fixed it, they will not fix it. Sometimes it shows up in bad creasing, other times the PL develops this ugly dull coating that looks "foggy". Just have to deal with it. This is what makes it difficult to sell XIs if they were worn, or if you want a lightly used pair, makes it hard to find a decent pair. Makes NO sense that my 01 pairs PL are still better than any recent retro. What's even more criminal is that XI's have doubled in price over the last 20 years. But ultimately it's your choice to stop buying the product if you are that dissatisfied.

Appreciate that boss went ahead and got the pair out of the way. Havent purchased through them since the 35s. Did me right then so should be good this time around as well.
Push comes to shove if the pair that arrives is meh could always shoot for another on release and take better of the two.
