**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

I guess. The issue is that magic and Rob put a bullseye on their back by calling their shot. All they talked about for the past year has been creating cap room to sign big name free agents and now they're not coming through.

Our own front office said they don't want to wait on the young guys, they want stars so who are we to question them and their approach?

I'm going to root for this team regardless, I see a scenario where we bring the whole team back try and make a playoff run I pray that there is some free agents worth signing next offseason.
Relax Free Agency just started Magic and Rob can’t control Pg never giving them a chance...

It might be a blessing in disguise we didn’t

Lakers were in the Playoff hunt most of the season too. For several weeks they were 3-4 games out. Lets not forget that. All our key young players have been putting in massive off season work which will pay off. And lets not forget possibly having IT coming back.

If Kawhi is really a man of his word (not like that other guy from Palmdale) we'll get him next year.

We're really about to pay Boogie the max to rehab on our dime next year. Probably won't play a single game for us next season.:smh:

Am I the only one ok with not signing anyone? What happen to having patience especially with a team like this showing lots of talent. I think we're on the verge of something special if we let these guys blossom but fans cant wait anymore...

The problem is it’s not a good look for Magic, who was particularly hired to sign the big fish

You'll dodged a bullet with PG13, he ain't the 'cerebral' player that LBJ was talking about. Dude's content being on a treadmill team that won't make it past the first round.

We were a bottom 5 team in the West and 12 games out of the playoffs. There was only about a two or three week period in February or March when we were even within Striking Distance of the playoffs. We really weren't that close.

Also, we've seen what this "man of your word"/waiting approach gets you. You end up holding the bag a year later when he resigns with his current team.

Also, Kawhi just says he wants to be in LA and prefers the Lakers. He would be just as happy re-signing with the Clippers. if he gets traded to the Clippers, he's not going to walk to Lakers next year.

Nah bro. We got to make the big trade ASAP. We can't afford to have Kawhi play in Philly 4 year and make the finals and him sign long-term there or him get traded to the Clippers and we lose out on him all together.

The "don't give up anything,he's walking here next offseason approach doesn't work" apparently.

We gota be patient cant get fleeced kl is a wildcard anyway his personality and way he turned on spurs scares me. The most id give up is either kuz or bi not both and hart and couple picks. Whos to say guy doesnt freak out in the limelight and bounces after a year.

Free agency just started and we only struck out on PG who didn't even give one meeting to LA.
Give it some time before you want to burn Magic and Rob at the stake.

I was responding to the hypothetical that we end up not signing anyone

Get Cousins, resign Randle and IT and he can live with that. Kawhi will be there next year.

It's legit like y'all didn't see Paul George sign with OKC 2 hours ago. Obviously alot can change in the year. Players get comfortable with their new teams and the team that they're currently signed with can offer them more money. Are you guys really down to go through this same situation a year from now and watch Kawhi sign long-term with the Clippers or Philly? Why wait?

Hate the boogie idea. We know the drill. He comes back, starts favoring that leg so some other injury pops up. In and out of lineup all year

This Lakers exceptionalism crap is annoying me. Let's be honest here, we've been a bottom five team in the league over the last five seasons. The fact that there is still a lot of fans who hold the "we shouldn't have to convince anyone of anything, where the Lakers" approach boggles my mind.

Yes the city of Los Angeles has its perks, but where pretty much on the same playing field as the other 29 teams in the league.

I swear we were about to become the Dallas Cowboys fans of the NBA where all we do is talk about championships we won decades ago.

Still here.. Now its **** Paul George.. sign Kawhi next summer and let them grow.

I'll say this for the last time: "Kawhi isn't just walking here next offseason". call George was hell-bent on being a Laker a year ago and now he resigned with Oklahoma City. Obviously, players minds can change within a year. Kawhi is a top 5 player who can help us attract other stars. Make the trade ASAP
