**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

I'd love Beal (go gata!) but not at the expense of BI

I'm honestly fine with the team as is. At worst we're a 5 seed with the lack of improvement of the other teams and with one more significant jump by either BI, Kuz or Zo we're a 3 seed. 2020 is where the title run begins.

I am too but I don’t think Magic and Rob acquired the best player in this hworld world in his prime, one of the GOATs coming off arguably an MVP season, just to waste a season .

They are in win now mode and are trying to create a roster that will contend this year. We’ll see what happens and how the roster is shaped.

I don't think that's the case at all otherwise the chips would have been pushed all the way onto the table with Kawhi or some other star already.

Bron's commitment for 3 years takes that pressure off of Magic to some extent. I mean they and really the rest of the league have to know this year is a wash with GS. I think their focus is going to see which of these young guys are going to be worth keeping around long term before going all in next summer.

It's not a wasted season. We've missed the playoff for half a decade. You don't go from that to winning the chip in one summer. GSW already got that on lock anyway. He's here for 4 years to build something.

We're not wasting a season though, we're just not trading half of our roster for 1 player. The biggest fear for most of the Lakers fanbase was Lebron coming here, signing a 1+1 deal and holding us hostage every season and demanding we gut our roster for stars. Lebron seems fine with taking the long road. He saw what 'win-now' mode got him in Cleveland. No depth, a bunch of bloated contracts and no flexibility to improve the roster.

We all know that we're not a title winning roster now but that's OK. The young core will grow and gain playoff experience and we'll have a max contract slot for next summer. Be patient.

this year will be a feeling out/adjustment/growth year, playoffs or bust but not necessarily a championship. not a waste at all but not a chip

I don’t think this is a wasted season. I just think from the Front Office’s perspective, when you have one of the best players of all time on your team and in his prime, then you do whatever you can to surround him with players to win a championship. Having Lebron and being a 5 seed is not the goal for this year. Magic wants to win now IMO. So I expect them to try to make moves for other stars

Bruh there is nothing they can do to win dow. They'll win games, be competitive. Likely 2nd Rd team as constructed. That's hella progress from last year.

Remember Bron didn't win until his 2nd year in Miami.

We got this in the bag for 2 seed if Houston signs Melo.
