Lakers were 3rd in the league at net rating before the injuries. THIRD.
If they got the deal done today, they would be just short of offering a max deal to a 3rd free agent this summer. Doesn’t mean the offer won’t be accepted, but you would be a little short of the full max.
It works easier if you sign the max free agent (with the FULL max offer) and then trade for Unibrow. The problem with the 2nd scenario is that it would be really tough to get the salaries to match.
