DLo - 3 point shooting has been sluggish to start. Every where else he’s been fine shooting, career high on 2P%. Last year the first 13 games shot 29.9% from 3. Then went 41.4% the rest of the year. Lowest TO/G of career.
As for defense, DLo likes to play QB and call out everything. If you ever listen to the court feed or mic’d up casts, DLo is always communicating on defense. Kenny Atkinson and Finch talked about how much film he watches and he knows where everything is during a game. But he’s unathletic and cant really compensate it with strength due to his frame. That’s where his physical limitation make him rough on defense.
The answer is really for him, hey there’s your guy, if you’re off ball stick to him. If the shot goes up either you crash or immediately put a body on him(probably would fix a lot of **** for everybody including LeBron, the rebounding part at least). That would solve a decent chunk of his issue. Not losing your guy on defense because he gets too focused on everything and forgets where his man is.
AR - two better games in a row, hopefully starting to turn the corner. The first 4 were atrocious and he was arguably the worst player on the court.
AR has been atrocious according to 2 man lineups with AD -17.1 rating. Almost even with Bron -1.8.
DLo has been bad with AD -5.4, but really good with Bron +6.1. I think they should stick with DLo and AD and AR with Bron to give AR more room. And DLo being the better passer works better with AD. While LeBron can take a lot of perimeter gravity off of AR.
Where it didn’t work last night was in the 1st quarter, Lakers were already in the end of the bench with Max & Jax 7 minutes into the game.
The 5th starter - This is what likely the mid-season move is going to be for, if Vando isn’t stabilizing things. Prince is alright, but him getting 18 points in a game is great and all but it’s by design for the other team. Lakers have 4 guys who can completely control a game on offense. If you force them to constantly have to kick out to TP, it’s a win. There’s no rhythm for the other 4. Also TP has been horrible on defense. The only guy worse, Cam Reddish.
No idea prior to the concussion what’s up with Rui or what the hell they are trying to do with him.
What the 5th starter needs to be… Energy, defense and be okay at hitting an open shot a couple times a game.
Bron - Hard to ask from more from someone as old as our resident geriatric CP. But two things that have been issues. He’s turning the ball over way too much. He’s been careless with the ball way too often and making dumb passes.
Two, he’s not engaged on defense. A chase down block is cool and all. But when the other team is going on a run and LeBron is on the court just watch every thing Bron is doing. Doesn’t have to be Miami LeBron on defense. Just stop taking defense off. You can be engaged and not the primary defender. Or doing it without exerting a ton of energy.
AD- Pick his spots better on offense. Just has to find the two stretches a game where he is putting his stamp on everything.
