Was scrolling IG this morning and came across Phil Handy’s page, he posted some pic with the caption “The job of a coach is to teach”… not sure exactly when he posted it originally but it’s been not on the page when I went back and checked. Anyhow, given the current climate of the season I’m sure he has knows that it’s not a good look but still chose to post it.

Anyhow that reminded of something…

Did he interview for the Lakers opening prior to Ham? Could this be another Doc Rivers situation where someone internally is trying to undermine the head coach to steal the job from underneath them? We know he has relationships w/ Bron, Rui, Austin, maybe Vando… being an assistant of course you’re like the good cop while the head coach is the bad cop. It’s a cutthroat business, really wouldn’t surprise me if that’s the case.

Probably hard to shake that label once people put you in a certain category... I know he coached some summer league games and maybe even G league BUT let's be honest here, in the offseason I doubt he'd even get an interview. If he were to ever get a real shot at coaching the Lakers, it would be in this situation right now. Head coach fired, assistant promoted to interim coach.
