Over their last 40 games, they are 2-1/2 back of Denver who has had the best West record in that time. T-4th in conference.
They are 9th because they had a 15 game stretch where they won 4 games from 12/15-1/13.
The other 64 game win percentage would match the 4th seed.
They didn’t play their best available 5 in the starting lineup for a significant portion of the season. Ridiculously.
Doesn’t make them the best team in the league. But there’s a bit more to it than them being 9th.
