You're right! Oh how the great have fallen.

Remember those times the Lakers were on top and other teams would trade their stars for the Lakers' journeymen? The journeymen the Lakers had signed not to keep around, but to preserve their cap space for a year and NOTHING more?

Remember those times the Lakers were on top and stars would say "**** a salary cap" and sign with LA anyway?

I can't believe the Lakers franchise has come to this

every empire in history has fallen my good man. just the way it goes. nothing last forever

word to the hathaway speechin TDKR...'living so large, leaving nothing for the rest of us'

the darkness is here pleighboi
posting anything related to that catwoman speech in this thread is banworthy IMO

Lakers did everything right in their books, they got rid of Gasol and Odom for CP3 at the right time of their career. I hate going back to that trade but my Gawd did the Lakers get screwed. We've been crying Bloody Mary about a PG and our PG that we had for 2 hours plays for that other team.

Everyone at the time knew for a fact that "basketball decisions" will hold the Lakers back 5 years....and it sure looks like it.
even after basketball reasons, we go ahead and get nash who had just finished a great season carrying a below average suns team and the best center in the league. thats 3 top 10 players in a span of 3 years right after winning two championships. we were unlucky that none of it worked out for us but no way can you blame the front office for doing nothing

Except we had a seven year gap between 2002 and 2009, and before the threepeat we hadn't won in 12 years.

what 7 year gap? they were in the finals in '04 & '08, they just happened to lose.

they missed the playoffs in '05, and they lost 2 the suns in the 1st rd of 06 & 07, before they were in the finals in 08. that's a crazy fast turn around.

it's not so much about just winning, we arent even sniffing the opportunity to win right now. Except we had a seven year gap between 2002 and 2009, and before the threepeat we hadn't won in 12 years.

I was speaking strictly to winning championships, since someone mentioned parades. We're not happy with anything less than titles here.

if i was coaching 50% of the blame would be on pau for the careless pass but the other 50% would be on marshall and young for not actively running to him or yelling for the ball

My sarcasm meter is being all weird, but I'll respond as if you're being serious.

Wallace, I get that.

But Young? Young could have practically stole the ball from Pau, but Pau goes to Wallace instead.

Makes no sense.

kendall marshall needs to step towards pau in that situation and not allow waiters to come between him and pau. im guessing pau just didnt see young since his head was down trying to pick up the ball until he was already mid fall. if your teammate is falling out of bounds are you are standing 2 feet away from him you need to let him know you're there, if he did then yeah paus fault.

its like if you get trapped by two defenders and turn the ball over because none of your teammates made an effort to get open. yes its your fault for running into a trap but on the other hand as a teammate your job is to come to the ball and help you out.

I like the Rondo/Bogans trade for Pau...

Coach Stevens seems like the type of guy that as a GM u would to put as many young players around him as possible b/c he can maximize their potential. They use Pau to clear salary and maybe grab a vet in the offseason to pair w/ whomever they draft. With Rondo's play style they'd need 2 more Allstars around him, just for the team to flourish. I also don't know if Stevens is the type of coach that wants a guard dominating the ball on the perimeter but we shall see

Melo has the Knicks rolling again so I'm sure he stays put

Even if the Celtics were ready to trade Rondo, they would be able to get much better sets of young players and picks for him.

Yes and No. Depends on how he plays... U wouldn't want to give up too many young assets and players for a PG coming off an ACL injury. Especially one that relies on getting into the paint as much as rondo

Teams could be scared of that but they'd still offer up better deals than just the expiring contract of Pau Gasol :lol

Now if Mitch were willing to raise that to Pau AND Ryan Kelly, well... 8o
