The Clippers can't afford to do ANYTHING if/when they pay DeAndre. Meaning, they are who they are. CP3 getting older, DeAndre and Blake being really good, but still not enough come playoff time. ZERO bench. They will have limited movement.
Meanwhile, he can play in the exact same city, not have to move a thing, play with Randle, the #2 pick, Clarkson, whoever we get with Houston's pick LONG term, Kobe short term, and then knowing they will have HUGE amounts of money in just 12 months, with a legit shot at Durant.
DeAndre could parlay playing with an into his 30's Paul, Blake, and no bench/supporting cast, or have the foresight to say hey, I can play with these young cats for a year, and then maybe bring in Durant, (or whatever else they can buy with 25-40 million dollars)
Did LeBron not just leave a bunch of old guys, for a bunch of young guys? To go "home". DeAndre wouldn't have to GO, anywhere, he would just have to stay, but play with a much younger team with room to improve/grow along side him.
Not saying it's likely, from what I know, DeAndre doesn't even like our franchise, but given a chance to sit down, and be sales pitched, we could make it real interesting for him.
