Nah man Houston fan just happy Clarkson is giving playing for the Philippines a chance was honestly pissed when he got drafted by the lakers but I ain't even mad That JC missed the 9am practice cause he went clubbing the night before he can do no wrong he I still gonna be the best player in asia anyway

Laker fan from LA and live in Manila. People are extra hype about him playing for Gilas.

When I heard his passport magically appeared from before he turned 16, I lold. Do what you gotta do though. Can't wait to see how he fits in with the team.

If he's able to play then they should run the system through him and Blatche.. they are the best players.

I remember watching games last year when Blatche first came in. Dude thinks he's lebron out there playing point forward etc.. I did understand that he's the only one there was getting double team and NO ONE can really create shots on their own but now that JC (IF he's playing..) is in the mix.. They can actually win games. They actually played with a lot of heart and only lost in very close games. JC solves a lot of their problems because he can create his own shot.

Watching blatche handle the ball from behind the 3 point line trying to be a playmaker was extremely frustrating. But like you said they were close every game against some good teams. They definitely have heart. I'm hoping JC stabilizes the team. Plus having a guard taller than 5' 11" will be a plus.

I'm Filipino and have been a Laker fan all of my life.

No bandwagon jumping for me.

I live down here in San Diego.

Clarkson may be the best current American born Filipino in the league right now.

But this kid is legit and he's a native born from the Philippines.

He's already committed to a scholarship to play at UCLA starting in 2017

^ :lol i always wonder how many kids named Kobe born in the late 90s are out there

This kid is playing at cathedral in the valley somewhere right now

These jokes would be so much funnier if I was actually the oldest dude in this very thread, but hey, lot of you are used to not using facts.

Lakers have 13 guys under contract after signing Fraizer & Holmes for 2016.. And $55.292mil in cap space.

When you take out R. Kelly (QO), Bass (PO), and J. Brown (QO)... First 2 are definitely gone after the season, it's either J. Brown, Fraizer, Holmes gone. Jabari has QO other two have non-guarantees..

That puts you at 10 guys $61.763mil in cap space..

2 - 30% max contracts = $53.4mil.

Only 4 teams have less than $30mil in guaranteed contracts next season... Celtics ($25-26). Lakers ($27-28mil), Mavericks ($28-29mil), Sixers ($12mil)... Mavericks likely get tied up with Dirk coming back, trying to keep Parsons, and trying to keep DWill. Sixers are not a threat to get anyone, no one wants to play there.. Celtics just made the playoffs, had a boat load of cap space, and did nothing with it.

This year he won't.

Kobe Paras won't be playing for Cathedral this season

Kobe Paras, a 6-foot-6 UCLA commit from the Philippines who played for L.A. Cathedral this past season as a junior, won't be playing for the Phantoms this season, Coach William Middlebrooks said in a text on Wednesday.

"Due to the difference in academic calendars between the United States and the Philippines, Kobe would exhaust his eight semesters of eligibility at the end of the 1st semester this year," Middlebrooks said. "His family made decision not to have him play for Cathedral for only half a basketball season."

Paras averaged 15 points last season and helped attract a dedicated group of fans from the Philippines to games who supported him.

He is continuing to attend Cathedral. He will play for the Middlebrooks Academy team.
